Need Help! Buying a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6

Hey recently I found a 06 Speed6 in my area, I was browsing for a new car and stumbled upon something saying the Mazdaspeed6 was an AWD 274hp/280tq sedan. Obviously this caught my attention being as I had never really heard anything about this car before this as I hear is the case with alot of MPS6 owners.

Anyway, there is one in my area that is a 2006, it has 115k KM on it, has some common rusting on the back wheel wells but nothing too serious. Underneath the car all looked and seemed solid as did everywhere else on the body exterior. The interior is the cloth black seats and basically looks brand new, like no one has even sat in the backseats, which they probably really havent considering this car was bought brand new by the owner thats selling it. He bought the car in 2006 from the dealership, he was probably around his early 50s at the time seeing that he looks to be early 60s now and has owned it for 13years this October.

He has always brought it in for regular maintenance thru the Mazda dealership whenever the recommended time was for its next service and hes done nothing to the car himself not even oil changes, all were done thru the dealership. He had to replace the fuel pump a few years ago becuz it went, and said the car sat for about 2-3months about a year or 2 ago and wouldnt start so he had to get a new alternator for it. Other then that the only other things hes replaced was new brakes a few years ago aswell. Also he had the dealership tell him there was a recall to bring in his car and he believes they replaced his passenger airbag. Other then that the car is completely stock, runs and drives very well, is quiet, and seems to be very clean overall. It comes with a set of 18" rims with summers on them and the stock 18" rims with winters on them. He is asking 6k CAD and is pretty firm on the price and doesnt seem like he will move on the price.

Just wondering how reliable these cars are, I've read a few common issues like engine mounts, rear diff mount etc... I don't drive a whole lot but the car will be my daily and I'm not looking on doing any heavy mods, mostly will be keeping it stock for awhile then upgrading what I read are the first must haves: Engine mounts, Rear Diff mount, and Fuel pump. And then maybe a Short ram coldair intake and new exhaust down the road. I know not to WOT under 3k, and I will not be launching or racing the car but I will be doing some spirited driving from time to time and want a car that I can enjoy to drive and be excited to drive.

1 Real concern I have is the VVT/Timing Chain, I heard these go and its not a matter of if its a matter of when... Wondering when seems to be the most common time they need to be replaced from what I've seen its around 60-80k Miles which would be like 100-130k KMs which is right where this car is and I know it will probably be around a $1500-2000 CAD job. Just wondering if people could tell me more about the VVT/Timing chain issue and how i can check it properly and how tight/loose it should be, I went and seen the car and didnt know about this then unless I would have checked the chain, might have to go see it again just sucks cuz its a 1h30m drive away.

Sorry for the long post just want to some other peoples opinions on this before I buy the car.

for what it worth, you can remote valve cover and check for marks and how loose it is but yes it is a common problem. either the chain and also the vvt actuator. The locking pin from vvt wear it's way out and parts fall into the oil pan where valves contact with pistons...if you don't have proof that it was done, it should be on a ''to do'' list...

this is also the kind of car (14 years sport turbo) you get as a secondary car or with a B plan to reach work....
