(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hello! Picked up a 2008 Mazdadpeed3 Sport with 85k miles for $5.5k in December last year. I was going to change the air filter, but it is not where it should be. Can anyone elaborate on what mods are done under the hood? I want to say just a cold air intake, but I am unsure. Thanks! ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk I found out that this is a cold air intake... I should have tried harder. Any other mods you guys see? | Not Ranked : 0 score factory BPV and some 4awg running from the battery for an amp. Looks like you still have the factory shroud for the TMIC so I would say that it is probably also factory. Can't see the rest of the motor but that's it from what I can see.

| Not Ranked : 0 score You have the official Mazda approved and perhaps dealer installed Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake. The same as mine. It is made for Mazda by AEM and uses AEM's dry flow conical filter which is down behind the driver side headlight and just in front of the left wheelwell. There are slots in the wheelwell liner to flow cold air directly to the filter, which has a splash shield around three sides. It's an elegant and efficient design and flows much better than the stock airbox. You can go to AEM's website and order a replacement filter. AEM makes an identical CAI, but without Mazdaspeed logo branding. The filter is easily serviced from below with the undertray removed as when doing an oil change. The filter can be washed and reused, but may now need replacing. K&N also makes a filter for it. Your battery box cover is missing. See pic below of that side of my engine bay at 136,000 miles.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Looks clean! I need a box lid for sure. It is where the intercooler vent connects. I took the filter off and i couldn't even see a spec of light when i shone my 3 watt LED flashlight through it. I washed it up good and can almost shine light through it now. Seems peppier for sure. Probably just my imagination. When I was down there i noticed a new oily drip... front right strut blew...yay. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I appreciate the offer! My father in law works as a mechanic for s dealership and he can get some KYP(sp?) with springs, bearings, bushings, and mounts for $150 ea. Brand new. I think I might go that route to start, as they claim to be OE spec. Maybe in a couple years I will upgrade. I would take yours, but my luck would be the left blows 3 days later. Thanks!
