No gas pedal response

So I'm having some issues with a new ms6 purchase.. The car shows no response from gas pedal. I replaced the throttle body with a known working one thinking that was the problem. Any ideas?

Is there a CEL? It could be the position sensor being all dumb
like mine and putting it in doghouse mode. Basically you give it gas but RPM's raise veryyy slowly and don't go past 2k or so.
Happens to me maybe once every 3 months.

Basically to fix it:
Disconnect battery.... wait 5 minutes.... reconnect battery... zoom zoom drive away

Try that, assuming you didn't disconnect battery when you replaced the TB initially.

Car was purchased through a auction. Car starts idles rough for about a minute then dies, while running its dumping a neighborhoods worth of smoke out the back. No gas response during any of this. Pedal is plugged in along with the tb. Brand new maf sensor.

Sounds like you bought a car without testing it out first, and you bought a car with a blown engine.

Check compression and timing chain tautness.

definitely need to start with the VERY basics on this one. compression test should definitely be first thing. i hope you don't need this to run anytime soon.

Timing chain was tight. I'll do a compression test tonight. If the motor was bad what about the no gas response what so ever

before doing compression test, do piston height test via a screwdriver and cranking the motor by hand. If bent rod, you could throw thru the block just doing something like a compression test.

Also, check for mods. Sounds like the car was heavily modded at one point, lol.

check for vacuum leak/leak after the MAF.

Yea I have a cel. I don't have a scanner on hand. One of the codes was pedal possision sensor.

Does the idle sound ok? I mean if your rods were so far gone you would be able to hear it.

1: Piston height check. The two outsides should match and the two insides should match.
2: all ok? Pressure test. What is normal? about 180 (ish)
3: Is there oil in the car?
4: How do the spark plugs look?
5: Is your intercooler missing a hose?
6: How do you know the code being thrown if you haven't got a reader to pull it?

this. also for 5k shipped cross country i dont think you could have gone wrong.

get a code reader and see whats up. the $120 harbor freight is perfect for what it is, i love mine.

also check all of your fuses. engine bar fuses can cause weird symptoms if they are blown.

2 codes 2119 & 2138. Car idles until gas pedal is pushed in, then traction light comes on with check engine and car dies. I'm gunna try swapping the electronic gas pedal out.

Those codes are for tps and app, that would be the correct fix for your issue.

Check plumbing from PCV valve to intake manifold. Check all air lines out of IM are in good order.
If the previous owner had a catch and removed it and did not add the OEM hoses back before it was impounded it could run the way you describe it.

have you checked the throttle body for blockage?

I suggest starting taking the simple stuff apart. (assuming ALL fuses checked)



Since its not the TPS, maybe check the fuel line or in tank pump to make sure air isn't getting in.

I don't fuckin' know..


Remove all intake, intercooler, inspect TB, EGR, hoses, Plugs, Do a piston height check, HPFP, was there a boost gauge installed?

op try to find a scantool that does live data or an ap. at idle you should be around 14.7 afr, +-8 ltft, and -19inhg vacuum. if any of these numbers are off it will help direct you to your problem.

also, try running it withough the maf plugged in and checking for air leaks. check your fuses with a test light as well.

Might be time to start checking circuits and wiring too.

Go VIP and get the factory manual. On page 8,279 of 10 million there's a procedure in there for essentially resetting the TPS or actuator. I lost my throttle input after changing my starter, and following this did the trick.

It's something along the lines of turn the key on for 10 minutes, off, run for some amount of time, blah, blah...

EDIT: I had P2119, too.
