Default OCC install question... An alternate way to do it?

So I'm under the car looking to get my new DM OCC installed and coming to the conclusion that many do: This is going to be damn near impossible without removing the IM. Contemplating the dread of AGAIN removing my IM and all that entails, and now no longer in a place where I can work on my car, so I'd have to drive about 30 minutes, then let my car cool down... so on so on - I felt defeated.

When I replaced my PCV valve last year I wasn't thinking about an OCC so I reaffixed the clamp facing directly upward, making it impossible to now get a tool on it from beneath. But then I thought... why do we even need to remove this hose?

I can cut it straight down the middle, one hose from the OCC already comes with a 90 degree barbed fitting after the check valve, so I could just pop that onto the existing now half of hose on the IM, and I could source another barbed fitting and just do the same on the hose coming from the PCV... THIS SEEMS SO OBVIOUS.. so I can't be the first one to think of it. There MUST be some glaring reason why this is a bad idea. But I can't see it. If you're not an idiot, there's no reason that - properly clamped - the hoses should ever separate under pressure, and the extra length can be trimmed off the OCC hoses if needed.

Tell me... am I missing something?

Well no one chimed in on this but... already done. Quick, easy, perfect. Cost an additional $4 for the extra hardware, and confirmation from Matt over at DM that the splicing was perfectly fine.
