Gary Yeomans Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda

Daytona Beach, FL 32124

I brought my car in yesterday with a CEL P2178. They kept the car all day and never called me to let me know whats up. So around 4pm I called them and said I could come pick it up and the problem was I overfilled the fuel tank wich caused the evap system to clog up. Not once have I let the tank overfill. Once the pump clicks off, I stop. I told them this was unacceptable and to test the purge valve again because they said it checked out ok at first. So sure enough, the valve was faulty and was replaced.

On to the next issue. While it was there I was going to have them put in the Motorcraft synthetic transmission oil. They told me the service was $69.99 but gave me $10 off because my dad is their Cornwell Tool dealer. So once that service was completed I came down to pick my car up. They gave me the paperwork and the cashier took my money. While they are pulling my car around I decide to read through the papers and see exactly what was done. Heres the problem. They didn't service the tranny but instead changed the engine oil with Motorcraft synthetic 5w-20! I was pissed! So I went to the service writer and told her this was wrong. Not only did she insist that I told her change the engine oil but she told me that was the correct viscosity! So I go to the manager and we get it all worked out. They gave me my money back and bought me Mobil 1 and a Mazda filter so I can go and change the oil myself.

So not only did I have to argue for them to replace the purge valve under warranty but they performed the wrong service, put the wrong oil in, and called me a liar.

Whitten Brothers Mazda
900 Johnston Willis Drive
Richmond, VA 23236
Sales: (888) 417-8154

Aftermarket tranny mount fell apart due to no bushing. Tried driving car home and something else broke. Pulled off the road, got some help from a fellow MS3 owner, he gave me a ride to my house where I got some tools and the stock mount. Went back to car and installed stock mount and car still wouldn't go anywhere in gear so I had it towed to Whitten Bros. They called me the next day and told me that both the clutch and flywheel had to be replaced and it would be $2500. They also told my dad that this was caused by aggressive driving and basically abusing the clutch....never said anything to myself or him about the axle being broke. I didn't believe them so I had it towed somewhere else who said it was the axle. He fixed that first then said the car was fine. Drove it home today and both the clutch and flywheel are fine. They charged me $91 to misdiagnose the problem. There was grease and oil all over the left front suspension....how could they not say something to myself about the axle/cv joint being broke?

(Fat) Dick Edwards Ford, Lincoln, Mazda
7920 East US Highway 24
Manhattan, KS 66502-8600
(785) 776-4004

My first issue is their repair time: way too long. In all of my visits to them, my car has stayed there twice as long as they told me it would. No courtesy calls or compensation on their part for the inconvenience. Not like I need my car for anything.....

Secondly, general incompetence. Between their body shop and parts dept., they couldn't figure out how to put the rear view mirror back on the car. "It's not the right mirror." After 20 minutes of fucking around behind their supermazdafucktard computers, "I don't know what to to tell you. It just isn't going on there." I asked if I could try, took the mirror, and put it on in less than ten seconds.....really!?

My third issue is the worst. My friend had his white ms6 in there for quite a bit of work a couple months ago. got it back without the headlights connected, a severe oil leak, and a nice long line of white paint where the windshield meets the dash. On mine, it looks like a tech had wax or something on his hands when he grabbed the black part of my door -- left nice white finger print marks that i cant get out.

so, as everything else in kansas, this stupid fucking state, fat dick edwards sucks fat dick and balls. end story.

Wellesley Mazda
965 Worcester Road
Wellesley, MA 02482
(781) 235-6000

Brought my car to this dealership for every service since I bought the car with 20k miles on it. Purchased my MSCAI and MS Coilovers through their parts department and had their service department install both (stupid, I just wanted to be safe warranty-wise.) Called later to see if they could give an oil change and check out a P0300 random misfire for me and they must have seen my file on their computer when I called and they asked "do you have any aftermarket parts on the car?" I said "....yes," then the guy had the nerve to say "we'll you might as well bring your car somewhere else because we don't go near cars with aftermarket parts." I continued to remind the guy that they SOLD AND INSTALLED my parts, he reluctantly decided to give me an appointment TWO weeks later, and I happily decided not to show up.

These guys will kiss your feet just to get you to buy a car. During price negotiation they had the nerve to let someone else "test drive" the car. I don't know why I didn't walk away then. The salesman didnt go over somethings he was supposed to about the car and told us he didn't just gave us the books and said read these. He told us to give him a good review and he would take us out for dinner on him. 1 week into owning the car, I had to take it in because my phone charger was stuck in the outlet. Not to mention the car has really bad water spots, we were told we had to take in the car they had to buff out the water spots.the salesman promised the car ready by noon. Didn't pick it up till 4 pm. The paint on the car is worthless now looms like crap it has to be waxed every time.

3 months later I get an email with a survey reguarding my recent purchase. I let them have it and let them know I will not be recommending anyone to that dealership. I"d rather drivehours to a diff Mazda dealer. I"ve been spreading the word about this dealer

Customer service is crap. They let u stand around/look for help before someone walks up to you.
I went down there when i was looking for my car and told them i'd like to give a local dealer my business. Showed them the other quotes from Browning Mazda in Cerritos and they weren't willing to get close to it, so I got it in Cerritos. Bakersfield Mazda does my services now and they haven't been too bad. The only thing that sucks is they said if I have ANY aftermarket parts, they will not do any warranty work (e.g. if i have a SRI and my door handle breaks they won't fix it under warranty). Why, I don't know. They will, however, do oil changes and other non-covered items. They suck.

I live in Bako and have had to deal with these guys.

1. Their customer service does suck IMHO. Impossible to get ahold of, never return phone calls etc. then bitch at you when you show up at their door for an oil change without an appointment. an appointment you tried to get by calling, leaving voicemail, and multiple email attempts. I only get it done there at $75 a pop just so there is a paper trail at the factory. I used to be a service advisor for lincoln/jaguar in town, so i know you dont have to have these services done at the dealership, but it sure makes it easier to deal with when everything is already in their computers.

2. recently just went in for my third service, and to have the RF headlight replaced due to "excessive moisture" in the headlight. something that ive seen happen to lots of cars. headlight doesnt get sealed correctly from factory, basically its a simple R&R but not so far. I guess there's a TSB out for the headlight, so its a known problem, but they had to take pictures and submit for approval. this too, is something that is becoming more common in the auto industry for many makes of vehicles. (talked to some friends that work for other dealerships still...some advisors, some are techs) regardless, its been a week and i still havent recieved a phone call from them. just bad service again if you ask me. probably going to have to try and hunt down the info myself and find out whats going on.

3. only thing visible on the vehicle though that they could whine about is the RMM, shortcut; wheels and lowering kit in a couple weeks. part of the reason why i have been so scared of doing anything that i want to the car, AP, SRI/TIP for starters, is because i dont want to run the risk of voiding my factory warranty for one, or my 6/100k extended for another. these guys seem to be so keen on pissing everyone off that i dont want to take any risks. I dont have any basis for proof, and they could be super cool when it comes to that stuff for all i know, but that isnt the vibe i am getting. so as far as this part of the post goes, it is just my opinion so far. nothing i have installed so far should matter though, as they had a new MS3 on a set of wheels that they installed themselves, so they can only take the aftermarket route so far i guess. As long as it doesnt affect performance is their stand?? we'll see.

bottom line though. who is going to drive their mazda 3 hours to go to another dealership where the techs and advisors are cool with aftermarket parts to get something fixed. pretty annoying.

SHITTY SHIT SHIT BALLS!!! they replaced my turbo under warranty... but they didnt tighten charge tubes, and just used metal washers where the rubber bushings on the intercooler is mounted. Also while doing turbo work they never topped off my oil, and i checked it before taking it in, it was full... they said their mech said everything was placed correctly and correctly topped off... i had pictures and made them eat it... finally got bushings and sleeves for intercooler mounts. they suck to work with.... and my case was mild compared to some stories from that stealership!!!

I 'am so far beyond voiding warranty and I knew it I would ever try to even begin to debate about it, my question is what about the recall issues, like the steering pump or windshield wiper motor....can they refuse to correct these issues because of modifications?

Can an automotive dealership void your warranty?

Understanding the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.

(link to the entire article)
Magnuson-Moss Act

TL/DR:
Nearly everyone has heard about someone who has taken a vehicle that has been modified with aftermarket parts to a dealer for warranty service, only to have the dealer refuse to cover the defective items. The dealer usually states that because of the aftermarket parts the warranty is void, without even attempting to determine whether the aftermarket part caused the problem.

This is illegal.

Vehicle manufacturers are not allowed to void the vehicle warranty just because aftermarket parts are on the vehicle. To better understand this problem it is best to know the differences between the two types of new car warranties and the two types of emission warranties.

Went to pick up my car the next day and was informed that my HPFP was not replaced due to the fact that I had a non approved CAI on my car! I was also informed that they called Mazda and informed them that there were aftermarket parts installed and that any future engine warranty would be questioned!

Edit: this was well before I had any of my mods listed below installed (FYI)
Well, I think a little bit of more backround information on your car would be great... I just find it hard to digest that Don Miller is on any shit list. I have had zero problems with this dealer. I did not buy my speed3 from them, but brought it in to have them check it over. They looked it over, told me that all is well except a leaking back shock, and I paid. I purchased the car, have had now 5 oil changes in a row and love coming there. Bob always says how clean my car is ( eh hose it down ) and how he loves my full size sock monkey. I have talked to the 3 head service guys, and the deal with mods is this..... they do not give a shit if your on the juice, have a fmic, and a cobb ap. If your trying to get warranty the car, they have to report to Mazda what has been done to the car.
It is no different then working at Thermo King, some nob ass is trying to get warranty on his then sb-210 for belts slipping, when he put some aftermarket bullshit gator back belts on. Yes, he was denied warranty for slipping belts. Why should a dealer risk loosing there creditability for some hard ass that can not except reality if you mod your car.

They have two service writers. One is about 24 and I havent had to deal with her. The other is Jim and he is a older guy. I have been in the automotive field for 14 years and Mercedes Benz master certified and ASE certified and this guy acted like I didnt know what I was talking about when talking to him. Even thou I explained this to him. The service manager is just as much as a jerk and not listening. They treated my wife like she was a moron that didnt know anything about cars. When taking our '11 5 door in for issues, they didnt even look at it the first day and on the second, told us we were full of shit. They suggested to her to buy all new tires, which they would NOT sell to her with out an alignment. The car is one year old and has 20k miles on it, it doesnt need an alignment unless something is wrong. Lastly, they only have 5 techs and the service manager said only 2 of them are good, 2 of them are oil changers and 1 is just ok. So we will not be going back there again.

Oh yeah, when getting the car back the first time, the paper floor mat was bunched under the drivers seat and there was a pen mark in the leather. To get it off, the service writer licked his thumb and sobered all over my seat.

I took my car in yesterday to get 4 brand new tires on and a 4 wheel alignment. Car was getting new Hankook Ventus 12 Evo K 110's 225/45ZR/18's with a long need 4 wheel alignment. Car has 41000 miles on it. When I scheduled the appointment last week, they told me that it would take roughly 2 hours to complete. So drop it off at 10am, and they would call when it was finished.

It was around 530pm when I called to check on the status of the car , but I couldnt get ahold of anyone over the phone. So, I figured I would just head on over and pick up dinner on the way.
As I round the corner to the dealership avenue, i see my car come flying past me in the opposite lane, 2 dudes in the car. (Yeah). I continue on the to dealership and proceed to the service department to ask about the status of the 7 hour tire change and 4 wheel alignment , as well as why 2 people are out driving my car ....Last time i checked, a joyride wasnt a requirement for anything I had scheduled . The lady at the desk proceeded to tell me that my tires probably needed calibration ( i shit you not ) and they were double checking everything before it was done. All this time im sitting by the front window waiting to see when my car would roll back in. 20 minutes later, my car arrives. Tech parks it in the garage, and grabs his paperwork with the car sitting at idle. He comes in, and when confronted about where he was taking my car, he told me he had a friend that ran the same tires on his Subaru, and they develop flat spots when sitting too long. Blah blah blah.

I get in my car, turn on the AP, goddamn BAT's are over 170 at idle, with 39 degree outside temps, coolant temp in excess of 210. Im raging at this point. I knew these little fuckwads just went for a fucking joyride, but I couldnt prove it.

I get home, 2 hours later, @superdave2335; calls me on facetime to tell me he just read a thread on the Alaska Tuner Catalog about some guy taking a ride in a 09 Grey MS3 with a V3 and COBB turboback, black rims, etc etc......thats when i got warm rush of blood into my face.
The thread included him talking about The fucker spooled fast as hell and moved out....blah blah blah....But not impressed by terrible FWD traction problems.....car was modded, blah blah blah.....
Dave proceeded to get more info, however, accidentally spooked him when he told him he knew the owner.

He deleted the FB post, but I printed out the entire thing before hand and my wife personally took it to Mazda and dropped some F bombs.

In a nut shell, the mazda tech working on my car, called his buttfucking subaru buddy at continental honda across the street, told him he had a MS3 there he was working on, proceeded across the street, picked him up, went joy riding, then dropped him back off, and came inside to feed me a line of the biggest fucking bullshit ive ever heard, and that he owns an STi so he would never do anything bad to the car.....etc etc.

I didnt want the dude to get fired, however, i did want an apology. It's not your fucking car. It's mine.

The Service Manger said it was completely unacceptable behavior, and that he would be reprimanded for the bullshit, and the the honda guy would be in more serious trouble.

A full refund was NOT offered for services rendered. And imo, should have.

If I were you I would simply contact a attorney, show him the information you compiled and explain the situation, either free no charge on all work and parts including the tire package or sue for breach of contract....leave the dealership no other choice but to make an example of said tech, then proceed to the other dealership and make them aware of the situation and the conduct of their tech....threaten to go public with misconduct to the effect of why any customer would trust either dealership's maint department not to do the same to their vehicle......personally I would rather cut to the chase and punch both motherfucker square in the throat but that is not politically correct in today's world lol.

If you're willing to travel a bit, Open Road Mazda in New Brunswick is pretty good. Got my turbo replaced there, as well as Purge Valve. They didn't mind my mods too much, although had to stock out before the turbo replacement. Service manager woman was quite knowledgeable and always offer a free loaner car while your car is being serviced.

Capitol Mazda (Service Department)
980 Capitol Expressway Auto Mall
San Jose, CA 95136
(408) 723-8800

Took 2 days full days to install a new EGR valve, part was in stock. Dropped the car off at 7:30AM with an appointment, received no updates whatsoever, called at the end of the day only to find out they hadn't even started... Next day, I had to call to find out my car would be ready around 5PM. To top it off, they put 5w-20 in my car, or at least that is what the repair order said. I would never use their service department again.

However, Kathi Greene, the internet sales manager over there is awesome and I'd highly recommend working with her if you're looking to buy a Mazda in this area.

Antelope Valley Mazda

I recently purchased a used Speed 6. I called President's Day morning to schedule an appointment and received one for half an hour later. A great start!

I had them run a general inspection and to locate the source of a small coolant leak because there was always a puddle on the tranny and I could never find it myself. Well a couple hours later I was told that there is a crack at the drain plug, and the coolant travels up the tranny while I'm driving. They recommended they replace the radiator for $800+ (that's using an aftermarket, non-oem radiator, per their advice).
Also, the cap for the brake fluid was broken (I threw on some zip ties til I ordered a replacement) I went to the parts guy and he ordered me one for 16 bucks.
The service guy mentioned the broken cap, had all the money figures written down on paper, and I of course said I just ordered the cap. He responded with "oh ok good. We wouldn't charge you just to put on a cap" as he crossed off $35 from the list. (Really, he was gonna charge me 35 bucks for a cap I just paid 16 for?)
I then simply paid for their inspection ($119) and went home with a worried mind

Couple days later I finally looked at the car myself. The drain plug is merely stripped, there is NO crack ($7 part). And of course, it's IMPOSSIBLE for the coolant to travel up to the tranny without getting EVERYTHING else wet in the process!! Eventually I found the leak coming from the upper hose in tiny drips ($50 silicone part). This was my first and last time I will ever come to a dealership.

I'll start by giving the pros: they are extremely nice. They will overcharge you to hell, but they'll make you feel good doing it.

Now for the bad. I took my MS6 in to get a quote regarding a rattle I was hearing with the AC on. I had just bought the car and didn't want to screw something up myself. I had taken the passenger tire off beforehand to see if I could discern the rattle before taking it to the dealer. My tiny brain couldn't, so I put the wheel back on, torqued the lug nuts to 65 ft/lbs and took it to the dealer. After handing it over to the dealer, I get a call telling me I need a new VVT (which I knew - they said it would be $1800), new front shocks ($1400) , a new AC compressor ($900), new plugs ($250), leaking oil cooler ($800), and coolant flush ($100). I said no to all, and drove home (100 miles away).

After about 100 freeway miles (right when I got home) I noticed a wobbling/spongy noise when braking. It was a pretty serious sound so I jacked it up and took the passenger wheel off. To my surprise I was able to take the wheel nuts off with my fingers. I know for a fact they were properly torqued when taken to the dealer. I can only assume they took the wheel off to diagnose the noise.

Not only that, the only thing they properly diagnosed was the VVT. AC rattle turned out to be the belt tensioner - I did the work myself (including the VVT), learned a ton, and saved a ton of money.

TL;DR: Dealer didn't torque my passenger wheel back on; nuts were finger tight.

I'm sure this is an isolated incident liable to happen to anyone, but forgetting to torque the wheel nuts is a serious oversight.

Gwatney Mazda of Jackson

Jackson, TN 38305

*sketchy and incompetent

GF just bought a used Chevy Cruze sold *as is* but opted to buy the extended warranty. Car had a check engine light on. They told her it was nothing serious and just needed to be cleared out. She took it back a week later to clear the code and have it detailed. A few days later she was told to come pick it up and when she got there they had done neither of these things, only fixed a couple scratches on the body. Over the next week Mazda dealership kept dragging their feet due to the extended warranty not being submitted yet but they wouldn't inform her of that which made things seem even more sketchy. A few days later they said the check engine light would have to be dealt with at the Chevy dealership as they were "unqualified" to fix it, said it would be in the $1000 repair neighborhood. They asked her to drive an hour to the dealership to pick up her car and take it to Chevy, no way that was happening. Almost a week later its finally ready at Chevy. We went to get it, $300 repair, mostly labor, for a brake pedal sensor/something else. Also the car had been lazily detailed by Mazda and tint was scratched off from where they took the price page off the rear window.

All in all just terribly disappointing service from a Mazda dealership.
