(Thread Starter) | Neutral : +1 score For whatever reason, it is difficult to search our forums for 3 letter words such as oil, and UOA (used oil analysis), so it was asked that someone create a thread compiling decent oil information for our cars. Below is a collection of links found on msf (and now other reputable sites) that are oil related. There is also a link to what is thought as the most informative oil website that I know of, "Bob is the Oil Guy .com". | Not Ranked : 0 score I know it's not on MSF, but this link has some really great analysis of motor oil. FerrariChat.com - FAQ: Motor Oil Articles by Dr. Ali E. Haas (AEHaas) The guy has basically tested everything out there, and even uses math to prove his points! *gasp*

| Not Ranked : 0 score I plan on switching to this my next oil change. Penn Grade 1 High Performance Oil I'm still debating on 10w-40 or 10w-30. Brad Penn "Green Oil" is supposed to be some of the best stuff around. I'll give a further review vs. Pennzoil Platinum in a separate thread you can link here after the switch.

Check out that Zddp in modern oil thread (started by Lex) above. There is a link to a test of oils performed by Forced Performance (white paper Ziggo reminded me of). | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score It's not the hot oil that damages the turbo, it's the hot turbo itself. That's why you need to drive normally for at least 2-3 minutes after a long/agitated drive before you shut your car off. The turbo heats up quite a lot from the exhaust gasses (mostly) and some components can reach easily 1200-1400F (even 1500-1600). On the other hand the oil should always be at the operating temperature. Keeping the engine running for a few minutes before shutting the car off will simply bring the turbo temperature down to the oil/coolant temperature (or close).

| Not Ranked : 0 score I got this UOA done last oil change. The oil used was BG Products full synthetic line. Been a while since I've researched what all that means, but I figured I would share this for the people that can interpret the information. The oil was changed and analyzed after 4800 miles of use. I am sorry for the image being sideways. When I upload from my phone it always does this, hence my avatar.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'm hoping this oil suits our platform well. I did some research, but still don't know how to determine what some of those numbers mean. Anyone? Apparently BG Products will warranty any components you use their products in so long as you fall within certain guidelines. I plan on using their tranny fluid as well and will post pros/cons afterward. I have always been a fan of their 44k, so we will see how well their other products work.
