(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who is on the fence about doing injector seals. In the process of doing my BNR S4 swap I decided to change the injector seals. I've thought of doing this for awhile now but this was a good excuse to just do it. My car has always seemed a little off. The compression was 180 across the board, it always drove fine. When I turned the boost up to 18psi on the k04 I noticed a ticking noise at full boost, so I turned it back to factory. I've always seemed to get worse gas mileage than other speed's, absolute best I've ever got was 20 mpg on the highway with no boost at all. Now in the heat of the summer I've noticed that I was unable to even hit 15psi anymore, but nothing sounded off. I assumed it was the K04 going out since it has 114k miles and started smoking. I also want to note that I've only owned this car for 10k miles, so I'm not 100% sure of the history of it. The seals are all beyond shot. One of them had so much carbon around it I had to use the slide hammer with all my might. I'm glad I decided to do this, just wish I had done it before so I could tell the difference these CS seals will make. I think they would have shot out of the engine if I had ran the BNR at all. So if you suspect that you should do the seals, my advice is yes, do it. Now I have to find those top washers for the injectors somewhere so I can get this shit done. Here are some pictures of what I found, those squeamish might want to look away. Cylinder 1's injector is the one in the pic and I truly had to beat it out. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score They get cruddy AF just in normal operation. I would highly suggest sending them off to get cleaned. There's a good chance the filters are clogged in the injectors. When I pulled mine, I was surprised to find that the seals were perfect. The insides of the cups were shiny and bone dry, like they just came off the production floor, but the injector tips were covered in soft brown turd looking formations. It literally looked like poop. I sent them off to Race City Injector in Mooresville, NC. They came back clean and he included the old filters in the package so you can see how cruddy they were. They were pretty shot. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score most of the posts i'm reading about injector cleaning are from a few years ago. Now that GDI is more common is there anywhere that can test and clean them, or would I be better off just having them cleaned? Also where would you order these washers and o'rings from? Can't contact the dealer until tuesday. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I got all my o-rings/washers from dealer. I'm using Toyota Seals at the moment, but I have CS seals on standby.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Should I replace all the seals/washers or just the blue orings and the top washers? I cant imagine the bottom two actually do much other than space it out |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hindsight, I should have only replaced the o-rings. I spent a bunch of money replacing the other washers for no reason other than to have new parts. There wasn't anything wrong with mine. Even the o-rings still looked good.

| Not Ranked : 0 score My 6 is my daily, so I bought a spare set, had them cleaned, and then did a quick swap at my convenience.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Mine is my daily also, but I bought a 1990 Camry (dubbed the "Scamry") to drive around during this project. It's a nice car and I smile quite a bit at all the people looking at me confused. Honestly I think I would sell my mazda for a cressida if I found a VERY nice one. Just love the look on peoples face when they see me in this grandma car. 1JZ Turbo Cressida would be even funnier, also working on a 1990 car then working on a 2006 car will make you very much hate the newer one. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So an update on the cleaning. Sent them to injectorRX in Houston, Texas. One of my injectors was pretty bad. Had a 10% increase in flow after being cleaned. Glad I did this! Would've sucked to have one cylinder lean out and ZZB. This thing should run like a beast when this is all said and done!!! |
