Has anyone else tried @Dano's method?

My bumper is too far gone for zip ties and cables, so I cannot do it. I am not gonna use the big Dzus, but the mini quick latches, then vinyl wrap them or plasti-dip. Not sure yet.

yeah if the slots are ripped out then you do have a choice to drill more holes in that lip where there is still bumper material but then you will need to alter the OE bracket to allow room for the rivet/sleeve and wire combo to clear.

The smaller the external fastener the better and it would be a quick off/on but I can't get past the ascetics. because racecar

interested to see your final product.

I did a zip-tie thing before, and drilled holes for it. This go-around. I want to be able to take the bumper off if I need/want to. The Dzus option was the first thought, until I saw the mini-latches.

I will update post#1 to show I am not using them.

yeah the mini latches look nicer...now body color would be the bomb but it would likely be hard to get the paint to stay on.

Yeah, would probaby need to be vinyl covered in a color close to body. I am honstly thinking I might just do a flat black plasti-dip, will see how they look when on.

If you remove the stock bracket you may be able to thread ball studs into the existing holes and use the quick latch without fabbing a bracket. The ms6 only has one bolt for the bracket though, but the bracket might be able to be left in place as well.

My fender liners are messed up from rubbing with the wheels. I zip tied the remaining peice of the fender liner and undertray to the bumper.

Hmm... I wonder if there is some way to affix magnets to the bumper cover and use those to hold the cover in place. I bet high-strength hot glue would work.

All I am using is the factory clips and screws. I do have 2 sided 3M tape up front for the sides, as the little torpedo clips are not wide enough for hellafunctional. The finished piece will be out of plexi, aluminum, or humpback whale flesh.

I've got the same issues.. I'll be trying the zip tie thing as a fix for now until a better, more permanent solution surfaces.. let me know if the special project with that company comes through.. it's driving me crazy and looks so tacky.

@Raider; I came up with something that works really well and it's fairly cheap too!!! Ill post up pics later this weekend and how how I did everything. Very sleek and not anywhere near as noticeable as most the "kits" you can buy now.

if you do get one of those hideous kits...please bolt on an aluminum wing in front of the hatch wing....just to balance it out.

The dzeus were an idea. Quick latch is a quarter. Not rice if it actually holds the bumper flush and not looking like its about to fall off.

Never went anywhere. I got a guy who will make it, but no time right now. I'd bet if someone made a kit, hundreds of orders would be made.

A dzeus can easily fail too. Saw one fail on a grand national.. shit wasn't pretty. Hood took out the t-tops.. then ripped the hood supports from the firewall, resulting in the car being a total loss.

@Rokusek;, my fitment issues are beyond the back, but up top near the headlight. The quicklatch looks like a good fit, but needs the have a bracket fabbed. I was thinking about back where you have yours bound, and then make one up top. No skills, no fab.

Mine are fucked up top too. As long as I dont pull the Zip Ties to tight the bumper doesnt pop out at all (used to have o-rings but they broke)

us protege guys used to have a similar issue. ours was that the headlight clip would break and the bumper would look like this



Then these came out

aac | aac bumper brackets

and then the fitment was perfect.



i can hit up Noah and see if he would be interested in making a set of brackets for the 3. it would more then likely require the removal of the plastic clip piece and drilling a hole in the bumper and the fender.
