Default turbo inlet pipe

I was just wondering if you have any plans on making any sort of turbo inlet pipe since the ATP is a pretty decently sized let down. There are some of us that would be willing to either get a smaller battery, or relocate the current one to get a inlet pipe that actually works. I'm notsure if the number of people willing to do this is worth it, but it's an idea that i think you could probably throw out there. You could probably package a battery relocation kit as well as the inlet pipe and sell some.

Thanks,
Charles

I believe jon said that they will be making a "full" intake, which means it will run all the way back to the turbo. Sort of like a intake/inlet combo

I don't understand what you mean by let down? Are you talking about the compatibility issues with other cold air intakes? From my understanding if you use the ATP inlet to the ATP intake it's a perfect match (go figure). I was actually thinking about going this route that way it's safer for my engine during rain and other weather conditions. I have yet to have an issue with my current CAI (knock on wood), but I would take compromise a full 3 inch short ram for a pancaked cold air.

yes, with other intakes.
the price for a full atp intake is pretty expensive, and I know ptp is all about a more affordable way to mod a car, and stuff like that. Just throwing the question out there, that's all.

The only way to fit an aftermarket intake on the ATP Inlet is to cut your pie to make it fit..

I wish ATP would grow the balls and make a dyno that makes sense. Instead of doing the inlet pipe with a stock airbox, do the inlet pipe with the 3" intake and 3" MAF. Who's going to do the inlet pipe with the stock airbox? I know there's a dyno with all the basic bolt ons, but for people that don't want to put out 3 grand in mods this would be a nice gesture to choose from the mods for the cheapest price and best performance.

Yes we are. I have not taken a look at the different batteries for the application since the oval pipe is there on the market to make a good turbo back, but... a battery relocation or switching out to an Odessey battery is not a bad idea. I will get pictures up tonight of the SRT4 Caliber 4" intake that we just did so you can get an idea of what a system for the MS3 would look like.

Yes we are but... we would build a pipe that works with our intake most likely. I could build somthing that works with the others that are on the market but it has to be made out of oval pipe to clear the battery. That will only drive the price of the intake up even more. I will take a look at what is out there and if we do build something I want it to support both stock turbo and big turbo applications.

This would be a great piece that just about everyone would be interested in! Would an odessy battery give us more clearance?

Yes, they would. I was also thinking about the Braille batteries.
I really think this would be a well selling product because everybody hates the fact that atp's wont really work for people who already have an intake. I also think that a lot of people will buy it because they dont have any other options for an inlet pipe. The people who already have intakes probably wouldnt wanna buy a new intake, especailly if they had the option to just slap on an intake pipe and a lightweight battery at the same time.

Well then I guess its a go for getting the LW battery and regular intake pipe on there. Anyone want to send me there MS CAI? Free inlet pipe for them if they can be with out it for a while.

About a month. I have the pipe sitting here I just need to jig it up on my car. I don't want to buy one just to turn around and sell it because I want to run my CAI. Let me know when you can send it.

I bought a Gruberpower battery. Here's a pic. The battery was $85 so about $50-60 cheaper than the odyssey. I cut some aluminum diamondplate for the tray. Turned out nice.

5 are on the way now and they had an option for something that has a higher reserve capacity. Still only $70 a pop, thats $70 cheaper then the Odessey battery with more power on tap.

18lbs for the ones that I picked up. I got the HO version of what they have listed on the site. They are a little more but have damn near 2 x the reserve capacity of the standard units.

oh okay, cool. So they provide more clearance and all that?

I emailed braille asking them what battery they think is best for my application, so I'll see how that goes.

Keep up the good work PTP!

No they are the same size as the battery posted but they have more in them to keep the life of the battery lasting longer.

That is my idea of customer service, we listen and then we build.

do you have any idea of any sort of pricing this may be?

Also, are you going to try to make it so any aftermarket intake fits on? Right now Ihave a begi air box, so it uses the stock accordian hose, but soon I'll be getting a Cobb intake, and make the permanent switch to that.

No idea right now. If I use the oval tube it will be 2 x that if I move the battery tray and use standard round tube.

I will make it so it fits the stock location to a "T". That is where ever other intake on the market built there's to fit so I will make the replacement tube fit there as well. I am thinking 3" but there might be some issues with filling that large of a tube and the MAF may freak out a bit. I have to get some testing done with that tube replaced and out of the way. I will know more after the batteries show up.

I have a 3" turbo inlet along with my Cpe intake and there are no issues with the MAF so you shoudn't have any trouble..

Thank you and I will be getting readings from the scan tool do confirm this as well. I suspect that you either built your own inlet or ????. More info and don't tease like that .

I just used 3" mandrel bend I had laying around. My battery is in the trunk, so I didn't have to deal with any clearance issues..

Thats an old picture, but you can see it's nothing special. I've since had a recirc fitting welded on and paited it black so it doesn't llok nearly as ghetto...

Looks like if it were a little longer it would have fit very nice. Or something with a tighter bend... hmm can't wait for the batteries to get here so I can try fitting the new intake on there. I will keep you guys posted, looks good.

Batteries are here and I will be getting to the intake this weekend. I have to build the battery box, hold down, turbo to air box tube. I will make sure it fits in the same location at the stocker did so any intake on the market should fit.
