Default Upgrade stock HID ballast to 55 watt?

Hey folks newbie here. I have a 2007 mazdaspeed 3 gt with the level dial on the dash. I puchased a H7 55 watt HID kit for my car after not doing my homework correctly. Turns out my car has factory HID installed with the DS2 bulbs. I was wondering has anybody upgraded the stock HID to a 55 watt ballast? My night eyes suck now cuz I am ancient and I love the 55 watt HID I put in my truck.

I run 55 watt ballast but I’ve got an entire new kit. If you want a 55 watt you have to buy the whole kit and hook it up to your battery.

Have you looked into buying a 5000k or 5500k DS2 replacement bulb? Not sure what the stock bulb temperature is, but you could always upgrade that. It’s just a PITA doing anything with the headlights. I swapped out mine for 6000k and you have to take off the bumper and pull the headlights completely off. Fk you Mazda engineers.

I work in manufacturing. The problem with design engineers is they don't always think big picture. "It fits in the model." That's their response to nearly everything. We have design reviews to evaluate and pretty much tear apart their design to resolve serviceability and manufacturability issues. Then engineering builds a functional prototype. Then fix more issues that are found in the build that snuck thru the design review. Then they build a production prototype. Then fix issues that snuck thru the functional. Then production builds a Pilot Batch for a test run on the production line. Then we report back to engineering which usually goes like this, "WHAT THE FUCK!! How did this get past prototyping? You guys built the fucking thing twice and didn't see this being a problem?"

Edit: and then their response is, "the deadline is too close. There isn't enough time to get parts delivered on time if we redesign."

I imagine this is how it is in just about every car company. Except European ones probably go from design review then straight to production and skip all the other steps between.

So that explains why we have to remove the intake manifold to replace a simple PCV valve.
