ATR Request: RPM Axis Increase So cobb has told us in the past that if we wanted/needed something done then we would just need to ask and show support/interest for it. Now that there are some BT cars making real power we would all like to use as much of a power band as possible. Please post up if your interested in Cobb extending our RPM out in all the tables in ATR. Anthony, Thanks for making this thread. I was doing some tuning on a friend's BMW 335xi and they have a scalable RPM and Load axis for the entire map globally. This IMO is all that we would need. In all seriousness... This platform is flourishing every day and it seems that big power is being made every week. Because of guys like Pablo, Gerry, Dustin, Mark, Ant, Scott and basically every gearhead this forum has, we are able to adequately fuel this engine without any issues. 6th port and/or Port Injection is the way of our future...and it works. Big head work, cams, crank keying, etc...are all making its way to becoming a normal thing for this platform. Without the help from Cobb we will be forever stuck at this point. Cobb has brought us to a point of which we would have never made it to on our own and for that we are extremely grateful. Now we have created new possibilities and many people are starting to pursue them. In fact, many already have. All we need now are the tools to do it right. |
I'm all for the tables as well. More and more people are building and looking to make that top end power. |
I am opposed to the rpm increase and would like an rpm decrease... :kabong: KIDDING!!!! Any improvements that can be made I'm all for, of course. |

Ummm..... Yes! 3,000 RPM power band sucks the sweat off of old man balls! I am used to having 10-12k rpm range on the bikes and quads I used to run. |
This would be nice if cobb extended rpm table to 9k or 10k NOTE: Mazda does make a 2.0 DISI just saying. |
If only there was a way to use a 2.0 crank in a 2.5 block, with a DISI Head... daaamn that would be sick. 90mm bore X 81.3mm Stroke with a long rod??? We'd be at a 2.1x litre displacement (high compression of course :) ) AND still be in the good with mean piston speed ~25m/s at 9500rpm I mean I'm just sayin... |

There are all motor K series cars with 106mm stroke cranks with 96-98mm bores revving to 11k rpm for them to cross the line in the 1/4. We need a supporting head and cams that flow well enough into that rpm range so we can utilize a higher top end power band. |

FYI if you want to destroke a crank any reputable machine shop can do it for a couple hundred bucks. No need to source a swap or new one. |

As for RPM scaling, it is a bit of an effort to do it "right". When we did load scaling, we intended it to ONLY affect the necessary tables and none else. Most of the global Load lookups are shared with many other tables, and we want to maintain that style. In addition, adding an axis with individual breakpoints gets the necessary resolution in tuning without sacrificing the range of load values covered. However, that doesn't mean it is out of the question. Here is what I need from you guys: -If you have a built motor capable of running a higher redline, please PM me. I have additional questions that I need answered about the particular setups, as well as testers if I get to that point. -If you are a user of Tuner PRO (i.e. ATP), please email me for additional information. It seems to me that at this point, we have headwork covered, fueling is covered, manifolds are good, recent builds are showing cams aren't absolutely necessary... RPM is what is holding us back right now. I'm running out to 7200 right now on stock block to broaden my power band. If (when?) I build my engine, I'd be hoping for 8500-9000. |
