Default AP update bricked my V3
So, happily recieved my AP V3 today, go home, download new AP Manager, update to new firmware...

Fatal Error... help please!

the about firmware says V1.7.0.0-6286
AP manager 2.1.1.4

it's not installed on my car... am i going to have to send this back to COBB in the US???

I had the same issue. Try to power cycle it a couple times. I got an email saying they released an update to fix the issue. Call support they should be able to help.

ok, it can power up fine...
but as soon as i open AP manager "Fatal error"

Honestly, if they can not assist you in fixing this issue without you having to send it to them, they SHOULD cover the cost of shipping to and from. Seeing as this is not your fault, and this is still a new product. They are still working out the kinks obviously. I have seen more negative threads about the V3 than i have positive.

called Cobb, talked to customer assistance... they're not sure...
the device appears to work fine when plugged into computer (AP manager closed)
apparently will work when plugged into car

as soon as i open AP manager, get a fatal error....
going to bed, hopefully good news in the morning

Had a similar issue today. Been driving for two days with the v3. Left a restaurant today, plugged it in and got this.

I'll do you all one better. I was getting the fatal error message here and there randomly and called cobb. Was told to update to the latest firmware. Went to update it and my accessport went dead. The ONLY thing it will do when plugged into the computer is power on and then go right to the Binary code screen where it says do not disconnect and then will power off, then on with the same process, and then off again. Over and over like it is surging. AP manager will not find or recognize it. Went to go plug it back into my car and even though it is installed already, I get the same Binary code screen that says "do not disconnect" which you should never get when plugged into the car. Called cobb back and they said send EVERYTHING in so they could check cords AP and everything because they haven't seen it do that before. Not only will they pay shipping both ways, they sent me a next day air return label and will next day air it back to me. That's pretty fair if you ask me.
I am not pissed at Cobb as I know these things happen, I am just annoyed cause I want to play with my new toy and I can't.

My shit is doin the same thing...started with the fatal error...talked to cobb and they said update firmware....BAM won't do anything but that firkin code screen...won't connect to car or pc.....calling cobb Tomm.....so pissed

Damn makes me wanna buy a nice boost gauge and buy a cheap used v2 to monitor fuel pressure and leave it at that.. Save a lot of money.. Seems like nothing but problems with the v3

Interesting. I've been seeing all over facebook bricked V3's. This is crazy -_-. Seems as though they definitely didn't do enough beta testing. I'm thinking it may be AP Manager that needs a fix/update to properly work with the new devices.

Well I just plugged it in for the 20th time and it started working again. It just scared me when that screen came up while plugged into my car. Im gonna give them a call monday still and see whats up.
Edit: it works intermittent

My V2 connects just fine, but my V3 doesn't....
Have had some people telling me to install V3 and this will fix my problem... Not sure I'm game to seeing as I have a E mix + big maf...

got a response from Cobb asking me about different ways of connecting AP to computer, pretty sure i tried every possible combination with AP manager

only thing i havent done is update ATR, but doubt that'll have any affect...

Default AP update bricked my V3
I loaded my V3 to my car first after I unmarried it from my V2.
Never loaded any maps on my car. Just installed it

Then I connected it to my PC

No probs here

FWIW I updated mine before installing into the car, uninstalled the old AP manager, then downloaded new AP manager, installed it then connected AP ran update and no problem with all that.

Not sure if people first installed onto car then decided to run update. Just putting that out there if it helps anyone.

I updated my AP manager through the in-app update... Then updated my AP firmware.

Hopefully Cobb will have an answer for me in the morning (aus time)

Spoke with Cobb and my AP is all fixed and on its way back. Doesn't sound like something that can be fixed with just an update. They had to send it to the engineers because it was locked up when they got it and it wouldn't do anything at first. So if you have the same problems I did, call cobb and send it in.

So I got my AP back from Cobb today. Everything is working as it should. Only problem I have and I am pretty upset about it, they swapped my right angled power cord for a straight power cord. So now instead of my power cord coming out of the OBD-II port and immediately going left and hugging the dash, this new cord sticks straight out like a hard cock.

Thanks Evan. I spoke with Adam yesterday and he made a note of it in my file. I know all that fuss over a cable sounds dumb but trust me when I say it makes the look and routing of the cable WAY better.

I know this is bringing up an old thread but I purposely waited 6 months for Cobb to work out all the problems with firmwares. So anyway plug mine in for the first time to update and boom goes right into reboot mode and stays there. Now have been stuck on the binary do not disconnect screen. Tried to do what some of you guys have done but doesn't work. I used a 2.0 USB port and had updated AP manager before doing the update. Anybody have problems since. I've contacted Cobb so I guess I'll hear from them tomorrow.
