stolen AP

My Accessport was stolen over the weekend, and I'm just beginning an eTune. What do I need to do? Insurance doesn't cover items stolen from a vehicle anymore.

Acquire a new one, request new ATR from Cobb. Load map into it, save it, then load into the new AP with AP Manager. Then just go to the car and reflash.

No it doesn't. The ECU can remarry to any other AP. The AP itself that was stolen is the one that can't be used in another car.

I read on Streetunits website that it might not be that simple. I was hoping @Lex; was right, I just posted in Cobb's forum for clarification.

It was probably at work, which is disturbing. I know exactly who did it if that's where it happened. I think I emailed Cobb the serial number when I registered ATR, so I'll see if I can find it when I get to a computer.

If you have renters insurance or home owners insurance, they will cover stolen items from a vehicle, but only if you filed a police report. My renters insurance covered my Macbook, my golfclubs, and few other little things that were stolen from my car.

Yeah, that's the fine print in car insurance, it covers items stolen from the vehicle if the vehicle is actually stolen. That happened to me that's why I got my home owners insurance.

I agree I fucked up, but theft is theft. On the weekends it's just me and 4 other people in a secure parking lot. I've been here for 6 years without incident. This guy was Navy, I thought I could trust a brother in arms. Lesson learned, now I'm assessing the damage. I can hopefully just get another V2 and just go, but I saw some information that I might have to send my ECU to Cobb and pay $300 to unlock it. I doubt it since it wasn't tuned by them, but I don't know for certain.

Sorry to hear about this latest downer.

Have you actually checked with your agent/read your policy? Some will cover up to $200 or $300 of personal property loss in a partial theft situation like yours. Of course, with a police report and a thorough grilling by the SIU department.

I called State Farm and asked them, they told me that no personal property is covered by their policy and to check with my homeowner's policy.
