Default 04/05 MIATA MAZDASPEED MARKET VALUE?

Hello,

I'm looking at getting a mazdaspeed miata, probably will end up with something super clean
with 60-70k miles hopefully that "needs nothing".

I realize "book value" goes out the window with a very low production vehicle such as this but
also a much newer regular miata loaded really would'nt be alot more either. But I am really interested in the Mazdaspeed model for obvious reasons.

So an 04 with mid 60k in mint condition, should be around ???? price range, I'm guessing $10-12k max, of course there are some alot higher and beat ones cheaper.......

Your estimate of 10-12k is right on the money for a clean MSM in the mileage range you are looking at. If you want a factory hardtop, expect to pay around 1k more. Color matched, these things are not cheap... they regularly run $700+ on craigslist.
I purchased a pristine 2004 MSM w/ factory hardtop four years ago with 38k miles. It took months of searching autotrader, forums, cars.com, etc. They are out there, but patience is key! These cars are also known to rust, so definitely check the rockers and front frame rails VERY closely if the car you are looking at is from the rust belt. That said, my MSM has been a great car. Very reliable, and the Lil Enchilda package from Flyin Miata really woke it up. If you see one for sale with this kit (very common), I wouldn't rule it out. It is quite pricey on its own, and it is probably something you will want to do anyways. Other common issues are the "bog issue" and exhaust leaks at the turbo manifold. These are all covered in great detail on the miata forums, so I suggest looking around. Good luck with the search!

OK,

thats what I figured just obviously want to pay to fair market value. I'm seeing relatively low mile examples on autotrader (not rust belt cars) for anywhere from $7500.00 up to the "you gotta be kidding me" $15-17k, I realize there is a seat for every A$$ but I hardly have car fever
and have nothing but time.

thanks for the reply...........

You can piece together the basic bolt ons in the Lil Enchilada package for 1/3 the price. I paid about $700 to make 200whp on my 04. Which was purchased for $12.5k & had 47k on the odometer.

They made 3x as many 04s than they were able to produce 05s before the factory burned down, and the rest that were on a cargo ship, sank. A low mile 05 in Lava Orange, or Black Mica is easily worth 15-17k. They barely made 100 of each of them....

There a lot of things Mazda did wrong with those cars (265cc injectors, the intake & catch can system, the ECU, the FMIC & piping, throttle body inlet, etc), but it is without a doubt, the only MX5 worth owning. Good luck in your search.
