(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Not sure where to put this, but I recently picked up a 2004 MX-5 Mazdaspeed in great shape with no major mods other than wheels and a pillar mounted boost gauge. The boost gauge pod was a generic on and had too many gaps for my taste. For some reason this gen seems to be forgotten as far as finding A-Pillar replacements with the pods built in. So I went out and picked up a generic Bosch branded gauge pod from Advanced Auto Parts and got out the heat gun to see if I could mold it to the pillar a little better. Here's the original: Here's my first pass at the replacement, I was able to mold the left side rather snugly to the tight radius of the A-Pillar: Not quite as snug as I want it to be, but once my replacement A-Pillar gets here I'll have the old one off and be able to use it better mold the pod to it. The current A-Pillar was poorly modified to feed the vacuum tube and wired through it and, although I can't see it with the pod in place, I know it's there! Can you say OCD! ![]() Wish I could do the radio mounts, but I don't want to downgrade to a lesser factory or go aftermarket (single DIN aftermarkets don't appeal to me). | |

| The vent pod he was talking about was one that utilizes the defrost vent and maintains normal functionality. Like so.
