Default cx-7 all dash lights on and stopped

Hey everyone!

Was hoping that this wouldn't be my first post in this area but hey here it goes!

So the missis CX-7 had an issue today she was taking off from a set of lights normal acceleration and she said all the dash lights came on with the needles going up and down then a clunk and the engine stopped she had enough time to pull over, she then started it again to drive to the servo in a safer area 100m down the road and it did it again.

i met up with her and she took the fourby and our 3month old home, i jumped in the Mazda drive it home with out any dramas, giving it a good right foot under load up hills ect and didn't skip a beat!

My first thought was maybe the alternator is not charging, battery was replaced about 3 months ago, i checked alternator with multi meter and battery and there is no issue with the charging side of things. servicing is always done on time

any help would be appreciated

Thanks,
Budgiee

How are the battery leads? I've seen similar behavior when the leads aren't properly connected to the battery terminals.

Ok so I think its definitely a power issue. Battery or alternator. I test drove it to work thismorning with a live code reader plugged in aswell. Same thing happened 3 times but the engine never stopped. Just dash lights and radio would turn off and on then all warning lights.

And when I made it to work put the window up once it reached the top dash lights went out.

Maybe battery dropped a cell?? I'll load test the battery again tonight.

So just an update. I did a load test on the battery and showed up weak. Took the car where I got the battery from they did a test. And faulty battery was reading 348cca and the battery is rated at 600. So I think that the new battery has dropped a cell
