(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Advanced Clutch Technology began in 1994 and has since made some of the highest quality and highest performing clutch and flywheel kits to date. With a broad application selection, ACT has clutch kits for almost everyone ranging from diesel trucks to domestic muscle to sport compact. Their commitment to excellence shows through not only their products but through their amazing support, as well. ACT clutches are a perfect place to start for laying down more power in your high performance vehicle. Edge Autosport carries all ACT clutches so click around or call for your application. There are several options for the Mazdaspeed 3/6's to choose from for different levels of torque holding capacity. You can expect excellent performance from all that ACT has to offer but you need to decide what kind of power and torque you are shooting for before you pick a clutch in order to ensure that you get the most out of the clutch that you choose. The ACT Street Performance Clutch Kit HD is a good choice for someone with stock turbo making a good amount of power and torque with no plans to upgrade to a larger turbo in the future. It can hold up to 365 ftlbs of torque and because it is a solid disk it will have a longer lasting life too. The next most popular choice from ACT is the ACT 6 Puck Clutch Disc Sprung. Rated at 470 ftlbs of torque holding capacity, the 6 puck clutch is a bit on the stiff side but will work well with a big turbo mazdaspeed making considerable more torque than stock. With these clutches you get a choice between a Streetlite Flywheel or a Prolite Flywheel. The lighter the flywheel, the less rotational mass the engine has to move. This can allow for faster revs and less power loss through the drivetrain. However a lighter flywheel does come a cost. Lighter flywheels tend to make a little bit more noise and the lighter the flywheel, the more prevalent the noise will be. But by the time you are considering upgrading to these clutches with lighter flywheels, you probably already have upgraded motor mounts and don't really care about racecar noises. Every ACT Clutch Kit comes with an alignment tool as well as a pilot bearing and a throwout bearing to make a complete kit. You can click below to read more about these kits. ACT Street Performance Clutch Kit HD Pressure plate w/ Streetlite Flywheel - $880.46 ACT Street Performance Clutch Kit HD Pressure plate w/ Prolite Flywheel - $828.91 ACT 6 Puck Sprung Clutch Kit w/ Streetlite Flywheel - $865.62 ACT 6 Puck Sprung Clutch Kit w/ Protlite Flywheel - $814.08 It is recommended to purchase 6 OEM Flywheel bolts to go with your clutch kit because the OEM flywheel bolts are one time use only. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score So what's in between the OEM / Street ACT and 6-puck for more civilized manners? Stock block probably doesn't need to see more than 375whp/tq, and BNR is about to unleash a boatload of S3's on the Speed populace.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score There isn't really much in between. But the OEM clutch is pretty good with higher levels of torque as long as it comes on a touch later in the rpm range. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score That's what I've been reading but I tend to drive like an asshat, engine brake a lot, and make visits to the drag strip. I'm just trying to plan ahead, and if the ACT Street exhibits similar behavior to the stock clutch (and my tune will no doubt keep the torque minimized below 3K RPM) that'll probably be my replacement option.
