(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score It helps if you've seen them in person to truly be able to appreciate them, but we are very impressed with the quality and performance that Bilstein wraps up in this awesome little package for the Mazdaspeed 3. But then they are Bilsteins so we expect nothing less than perfection! The B14's are a step down from the B16's which are the top of the line offering from Bilstein. The B14's offer ride height adjustment to go along with specifically paired dampers and springs to make for an excellent road and track combo. They are surface coated for corrosion resistance for a long hassle free life, and they have also TUV certified which is the highest standard by which German made suspension components are tested. Get them now on our website by following the link below. Bilstein B14 Coilover Kit Mazdaspeed 3 2007-2013 - $1069.10 Let me know if you have any questions!

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I can't find the rates so I'm gonna call and find out. I'll post up when I get a response from them on this. These will be good for a daily driver. They are comparable to the H&R coilovers which make for great street/mild track use coilovers. EDIT: No springs rates listed, but this is from Bilstein's site. Descriptor: Front Lowered Height: 10-25mm, up to 1100kg Axle Load Descriptor: Rear Lowered Height: 5-25mm, up to 1090kg Axle Load |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have these on my Pu, bought from Edge actually. Front spring should be a linear main spring and tender spring. Main spring at 379.62 lbs and tender at 114 lbs. Rears are a progressive at 377.34 lbs. These are great for the street IMO. They're not going to "stance" you though if you're into such things. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Installation is straightforward. Car handles well for me, it's fairly neutral. There was already a RSB on the car and the coils didn't change much in terms of balance, which is a good thing IMO. There's a pic on here somewhere, not on the phone I'm on now. Rear perches mount on the top. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have the H&R's. It did shock me that they designed the spring perch to mount on the bottom inside the lower arm. But when it actually came time to adjust it it was fairly easy. Just pull out the bolt holding in the arm in and it loosens it up enough to remove the spring and perch. Make adjustment and slap it back in. Granted it *should* be easier to do than that but in reality its not that bad.

The endlinks is a good point. When I adjusted mine my sway bar was already out (I can't remember why) and I just remember it being easier to do than it looked. Like I said before, more complicated than it should be, but not too bad realistically.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would have preferred it to be a different way for sure. But I also enjoy working on my car a lot. Making small adjustments here and there don't really bother me all that much. Even if they are time consuming.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Like much with this hobby, there are too many contributing factors to make such blanket statements IMHO. There is a difference between a firm ride and an uncomfortably stiff ride... I'd take a budget coilover from a real suspension company like KW/H&R/Bilstein who can produce/match springs and dampers rather than the cookie-cutter china stuff that is really made to just hold together, slam your car and let you make adjustments.

| Not Ranked : 0 score At that price? No way - you re-use your stock top mounts and you'd be well advised to buy new ones. Besides, if you're concerned about comfort, the stop top mounts will be more comfortable than say a metal camber plate.

The negative camber you'll end up with up front (due to lowering) is fine and actually desirable. You will want camber adjusters for the rear for sure. Once you choose a set of coilovers and get them installed, get an alignment, zero toe and less negative camber in the rear compared to front will get you a decent street alignment IMHO for a fwd car. Something like -1.5 degrees up front and -1.0 in rear for the street.

As with pretty much everything, you get what you pay for. Higher end suspension kits come with less compromises than the entry level kits. We have Ksport Kontrol Pro's on our shop Speed 3 and they work great! They lower the car and we can adjust them and they are not too harsh. We put KW V3 coilovers on our shop Focus ST and my mind was absolutely blown by how well they performed compared to how well they ride. I had never experienced a high dollar suspension kit before first hand. We can barely tell the difference from stock in comfort and the car just goes around a corner like it is on rails. It really is impressive how much more performance you get out of the higher end suspension systems. | ||

For those of us without beater cars, no down time for service is HUGE in my book...even if I never need to use it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Is a stiffer rear setup possible? I still stand by the thought that we could forgo a RSB altogether and just have stiffer springs for both corner & straight-line handling with no more jouncing over highway bumps. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Corksport Camber plates and camber arms will run you another $500 and you have to drill out the strut towers to fully utilize the camber adjustments. Don't forget new strut bearings so that will bring up the price another $100 or so. I have the B8's and I am running all of that stuff with them. Then you need the rear sway bar and end links. Coilovers usually need adjustable front end links so that you can adjust the preload on the front sway bar. Then you could get different springs and perches. Of course you should get a corner balance afterwards with the 4 wheel alignment to get the full benefit. This shit gets pricey fast. *EDIT* When adjusting the front coilover, make sure that there is enough preload/tension on the front springs to keep the strut bearings and top mounts from binding. If you don't the strut bearings and or top mounts will break, quickly.

| Not Ranked : 0 score After running H&Rs, I don't feel the adjustment perch is a huge issue in the rear. They are easy to pull once the car is in the air and amount to 5-10 minutes of extra work. Typically, the average user will adjust these a couple times over the life of the coils. And knowing an alignment generally follows any height change, it's going to be an "effort" regardless. I'll also add that Bilstein, H&R and KW technically use a two-step linear spring in the rear. The bottom 3-4 coils should be fully compressed at static height. |
