I didn't say it would be fun, but it's possible. and trying to get much power out of it will probably require a rebuild of some kind anyway for any kind of reliability

If you could pull 50 to 75 more whp out of the BRZ I think it would be perfect. The point of the BRZ is definitely not to out drag a corvette or go do sushi rolls. The point is to drive a well balanced, engaging, on rails, car at the limit.

Surprised this turbo isn't popular on MSF yet. GT3071 power, GT2871/close to stock turbo spool. Should make 400 without too much fuss on 93.

(I have one waiting to go on the miater)

Exactly! I can't wait to put it in, BUT i'm going to have to. I'm in full snowboard mode right now. I'm going to be accumulating the rest of the parts for the full BT setup this spring. i would assume april is when it will go in, and i will most definitely hook MSF up with ALL the info on this lovely turbo, dyno charts and all

Problem being the gt3071 is $250 cheaper. Hell thats why i didnt get the gtx2867, i had my heart set on it until i actually went to order it and got to thinking, "why would i pay more for a smaller turbo?"

Considering we are able to get 400 out of a bnr, the gtx2867 should be good for 420+

and again thats the problem with it haha, for another $100 you can get the gtx3071 which is good for 520+. This realistically needs to be a $14xx.xx turbo for it to be reasonable, guarantee they'd have a hard time keeping them in stock at that price.

Both good points but I also consider the quality of the part in general when I put them on my car. Dual ball bearing and overall more stout CHRA give it a head start already. Also, how that turbo got to 400 is different than how GTX28 gets to 400. Probably pushing the turbo much less.

BNR stage 3 is 2871 compressor right? If so then the 67s really outperforms it, especially if it's the 48 trim--- the 71mm compressor is pretty outdated at this point. 67 does MUCH better at higher pressure ratios vs the 71, which is where pretty much everyone is going to be operating it.

Hardest argument is probably that the gtx3071/6 isn't too much more. All depends on your power goals I suppose. But I'm pretty sure the 67 can make more power than most are comfortable on a stock block anyways. So no reason to go bigger, unless you're already planning on building the engine for even more power down the road.

I would do it but I am broke. Would cost about 2k to do it including the cost of the turbo and the dyno time, Let alone the risk to my block. If I had 2k to blow it would be going into my miata fund.

What it really needs is a comparison vs the BNR, once on 93 and again on an E85 mix.

Because the hot sides are comparable I don't expect to see one make significantly more power than the other, both are going to choke on the hot side on an e85 mix. So if that's what you are looking for I think you will be disappointed. I would expect to see the x67 make more power in 93 and out spool the BNR but that's just my guess.
