Now you know, so be prepared. Ringlands crack because of excess of heat, tuned or not, with meth or not (meth helps, but when people use it also up the boost and timing). If the bores are fine and you can use 87.5mm pistons I'd return the 88mm pistons and get 87.5 instead. If something happens again (and on tuned cars chances are that it will) you at least have what to bore into. If you have any bore issue with a block already bored to 88mm the options are limited, basically you need to get some custom pistons (probably Arias, and have them machined). Also, you'll also save some money on machining the block. I also had cracked ringlands on #2 and #3 and the block was absolutely and totally mint in factory specs, but I already had the 88mm pistons and in my case it's less easy to return a part from the other side of the planet and get a replacement. Also make sure you add a meth kit to your build. If you don't plan to up the power with meth then just tune it to the max with pump gas and spray water+meth through a DO3 nozzle or something. However, with stringer internals and the CS turbo you can use some Do12 (or equivalent) nozzle and shot well above 400bhp.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Progress pics finally, had to get a new block from Mazda so I went with stock bore manleys, I'll keep the 88mm Pistons when rebuild time comes around again.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Damn near 4 months. I started pulling the engine 2 weeks before my son was born, so I've been lucky to get 10 min a day to finish it until recently. Do you work at ultra tech?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Why the change from the BNR S4? Did it just not meet your power goals or where you ready to go for more power now? Just curious since I was looking into the BNR S4 for my future upgrade path. Thanks Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk |
