(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Has anyone else noticed this when going BT? I doubt anyone cares, but any little bit helps when trying to justify mods to the fiance'. No corn or e85 just your typical 93 v-power. Also, catted downpipe with stock catback and CS TMIC that is being replaced by a UR FMIC. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I dont trust that computers estimate so I just do the math at the pump when I fill up and reset my trip. Worst Ive gotten so far is 23mpg on all wot logs multiple maps. So far this last tank I got 31mpg at 60mph I commute 90miles round trip for work. Im that slow asshole in the right hand lane. Edit: I should mention the 31mpg was on and off boost..not much wot besides getting on the highway. Im very pleased with it since it pulls now.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I hope the freek is ok with me answering a q. concerning one of his tunes, but I'm pretty sure a slightly higher closed loop max load, a little leaner afr in open loop, tighter maf curve and not entering open loop fueling and boost as often (as Sarcastic one mentioned above) should definitely help your fuel economy. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I suppose it's a good feeling to get more power and also more mpg, but unfortunately that computer is usually off a good amount. If you actually do the math when you fill up you'll get the correct mileage. Although I'd say it's plausible you would still be getting better mpgs if you did it he manual way too.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Im haven't been seeing that but I have also been doing quite a few logs and do a lot of stop and go during the week so I have been getting around 20-21. I am sure for a highway run chilling I will get up there.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I made slightly better MPG with my 3071 running 93 octane for the first few months, about 1-2 more mpg than I did on the k04. this is based on my own observations, calculating MPG myself (used the same gas station, same pump even). I'm pretty sure it's almost entirely due to the fact that the bigger snail doesn't spool until much later than the k04, so I could just drive around like a normal person and be lame and never really spool the turbo during my normal commute. simply staying out of boost is probably going to have a more dramatic effect on MPG than the increased efficiency gained from a good tune. it's just that its impossible to stay out of boost with a k04, but much more feasible with a bigger turbo. not that I would actually recommend that anyone intentionally stay out of boost! I wasn't entirely confident in the BT setup at first (install was rushed) so I drove like a bitch. once I got comfortable and started enjoying the turbo more often, my MPG went down but only slightly. once I hopped on the corn wagon, MPG dropped, obviously. I'm now making about 21-22mpg, which is about 5mpg less on average than I did stock. I never saw 30mpg on this car, ever... I don't know if it's my driving style, or the shorter Gen1 gearing or what.

| Not Ranked : 0 score @rfinkle2; I'm always ok with you answering questions, so never hesitate to chime in. Lol It is actually very common to get better gas mileage with a bigger than stock turbo when just cruising. The larger turbo does not have the on/off boost which constantly throws it into OL fueling. Everyone needs to also remember that the best way to control gas mileage is with your right foot. Drive like me and be lucky to average 17mpg and 200 miles per tank. Lol. Drive like @PartiAudiMazdarati; and you will see 360+ miles per tank of gas.

Well just my experience, which is extremely abnormal, on 93 with the k04 I actually had considerably worse fuel econ (?!) for some reason. Usually would see about 275-280 miles, and if I'm really pushing, maaaaaaaaaybe 300. When I went to e85, consistently in the 300-310 mile range. Don't ask me wtf lol, I can't explain that one either. All I know is I started running e85 year round once I saw the difference made in power and fuel econ. Fast forward to the 28r, and the thing is a freak of nature lol, tune is somewhere in the 340-360 awhp area with the e85 and meth setup, yet I consistently see 350-380 per tank, and a best so far of 412 hahaha ![]() I typically fill ~11 gals of 93, and 3.5 gals of E, so I never drain it further than a 14.8 fill up. Calculating it out, puts it somewhere btwn 23-26 combined mpg on average. And for the record, yes, I do open it up every now and then, give her a nice 3rd-4th, run thru the gears every couple days, but I am pretty anal about tire pressure, regular maintenance. Seems the larger snail not only adds power, but allows the car to cruise much more efficiency. Barely have to tap the gas to keep up a good pace around 65-70.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I was getting the 34-36mpg (on screen only) on Freek's 93 tune with the K04 ~75mph on flat road. I gained 10% fuel economy from the tune, and then lost it and 10% more with the E85 25% mix. I also commute about 7 miles, so zero fucks given for MPG I'm in the boost all the damn time and avg 21 overall.

| Not Ranked : 0 score from my experience messing around and trying to gain fuel economy through tuning, i haven't seen an increase with the gtx2867 vs the ko4. Granted i have optimized my tune for my driving style, so yes if you are a little foot happy its easier to waste fuel with short bursts from the ko4. Last summer i always averaged around 23mpg, and i have been continuing to do so with the gtx.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I don't know about your pump gas tune, but e85 takes substantially more fuel to create a requested afr, so when you are running your e85 tune, you are going to take a mpg hit for sure. That and I think people tend to lay into it a little more when they have some corn in the tank. LOL. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I know its gone down a bit with my e85 tune, but even before it didnt get much better. I remember the only reason I could somewhat smile when my station ran out of e85 was that I could expect slightly better MPGs. And I still dont think I broke 250. buttfuck it. I dont care. If I cared about fuel economy Id be driving skyactive.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I normally get 320 off a tank of gas, but most my driving is high way but I feel up twice a week to. I would run corn more often it was easier for me to obtain, I really don't care about mileage when I have corn in the tank cause all I care about is the get up and go the car has

| Not Ranked : 0 score Last highway trip I made on 93 my cars computer said like 28.x but when I did the math, I ended up being around 31mpg. Which I thought was odd but ill take it. Also, I managed to squeeze out over 400miles on that tank just before the fuel light came on. Now last time I took a highway trip on my e85 map, I averaged (after doing the math) about 23. I think the car said 25.x or something. Same highway going the same direction roughly same temps and blah blah blah. Around town my car says around 21 on both maps and I usually get about 250-275 mpt with minimal highway driving on corn...300-325 on just 93.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not only is the bigger turbo less spool happy but, under vacuum and while cruising it provides LESS restriction and therefore increases volumetric efficiency when the engine is not in boost. Another trick is to run a recirculating BPV that is open during low throttle conditions. Having the BPV open reduces work on the compressor pushing air against the throttle plate and increases mileage.

| Not Ranked : 0 score This is pretty much what I get, hand calculated as always, which nets me around 270-300 p/ tank depending on how right-foot-happy I am on that week. 60% city/40% highway driving.
