Did you check the rods for circular marks from the squirters?

Actually hard to see, took me a couple look overs. I got the light just right on the picture so it seems like it is unnoticeable. Hardly any martial gone.

You can barely feel it when you run your finger on it.

It was cylinder 1 rod btw.

Yes but cylinder 1 more then any other, I can't find any other marks like the one shown and I'm sure they would all be in or around the same spot on each rod.

Weird, I would think there would be something more noticeable on each one since they were all hitting.

ya I would too, im going to triple check again tonight when I get home from work.. I actually just sold the rods for $150.

I want to get some of your guys opinions. I am up in the air if I want to get the Manley I beam rods of H beam rods. Do you think the H Beam rods would hold up to the kind of power im going to try and make, or should I just get the strong I beams. Obviously they will have the 625+ rod bolts.

If the price difference isn't too great I would suggest erroring on the side of overbuilt.

Everything I have read on other platforms with the H-Beams is dont go over 500whp. So unless anyone else has any other information ill go with the I beams.

Might as well just go with the i-beams, but I have no doubt that the H-beam+625 bolts will hold pretty much whatever you can throw at it. I beleive that is what Dave is running on his 6 at 700hp

My limited knowledge on other platforms is that you get the same strength usually, but the I beams do it with less weight and more cost.

Here is a pic from Manleys PDF file. On a 4 cylinder application the H-beamn is rated for 600+ at the flywheel and H-beam+ is 800+ at the flywheel. So pretty stout

Then the turbo tuff I-beams are rated for over 1000 at the flywheel. Beast mode

ya I was just reading that.

I know for a fact the car will never make 1000+ lol

My thinking is, I am at altitude and even when I go down to sea level I do not think ill be touching 800+ fly wheel hp. I may be mistaken though? lol

Im going to see what the price difference is with my contact and then see if the extra cost is worth the extra strength.

Wait, so technically there's quite a few guys here that are going way over Manley's rating then?

That makes me feel not so cozy inside.

I think everyone is still well within the power ratings for the rods. There really isn't anybody that is over 600 on regular manleys.

When I did the math for our stock fuel system plus 4 1000cc injectors for PI, it came to about 850 whp worth of fuel. So unless you were going to max out your fuel system, and make a bunch of near useless hp, I think you'll be good to go. lol

But it's 850hp. It can't possibly be useless.

On k1's, not Manleys, but I'm >600 and the Manley's look a hell of a lot more beefy than the k1's.

With that said, I'll just be bighting the bullet and getting the turbo tuff I beams on my next build. You (Papasmurf) got the head to push some good rpm once it's available too, which the I-beams will be great for, so I'd probably say just go that way now for that reason too.

well this is what I decided on.

Manley H-Beam Plus Rods
CPe Stage 2 Pistons

Reason being on the rods, that extra $300 price tag at the moment is just not feasable and I need to get this car running ASAP.

Ordering today. Still waiting on an answer for sleeves from ERL and Kozmic. I do not think Kozmic is ever going to respond even though they stated they would "Help me out" haha.

Right now im leaning towards Benson Racing Engine sleeves.

One of the most beautiful compressor wheels in the world, that's for sure. Man I'm so pumped that somebody else is finally gonna be running this turbo.

Default Papasmurf Round #2

The one I posted and he posted are 6466's, isn't the 6466 have the 7 blades on the intake side instead of 6? Or is that just the CEA's?

Reason being on the rods, that extra $300 price tag at the moment is just not feasable and I need to get this car running ASAP.

Ordering today. Still waiting on an answer for sleeves from ERL and Kozmic. I do not think Kozmic is ever going to respond even though they stated they would "Help me out" haha.

Right now im leaning towards Benson Racing Engine sleeves.
add up the price of your build and then add that extra $300 and tell me what % it comes out to be. Its different when your only shooting for 500whp but at the power levels your looking at with a built head, sleeves, ect, do you think its even remotely a good idea to cheap out now? I know your build is well above 6-7k already and thats a hard price tag to swallow if something happens over a measly $300. take it FWIW but this is coming from someone with alot of experience in this dept lol.

Dave certainly made 720whp on his H-beams but remember he doesent drive on that tune it was only for the dyno. It would suck if you were making 700+ (which you should be able to do no problem) and then have to always worry because you cheaped out on rods. Dont forget rod bolts dont increase the strength of the rod, they just keep it from stretching at higher RPM.....

ok well I have been debating/calling companies back and forth for a week now trying to decide on who I want to sleeve my block.

BIG thanks to @LumberJack;

Golden Eagle, HUGE name in the Honda community will be sleeving/Oring my block. Not only does their warranty shit on everyone else's, the pricing was GREAT!

Pretty much if the engine fails at all because of their sleeves, they replace anything and everything that was damaged.

Sleeving : Golden Eagle Manufacturing

Total cost for me is $1395 shipped, which included a military discount and holiday discount.

This includes Sleeves, Decking the block and orings with the copper inserts. Also return shipping, thats why I said shipped.

They also stated that everything is CNC'd so I dont need to send in my mains/girdle etc because there is no way for the align hone to be off.
again big thanks to Bryce.
