(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hey guys I decided I might a well go ahead and start my Build Diary for my 6. After rooming with a diesel nut, he just wouldn't stop talking about Compound turbo diesels, blah blah blah. So I did some research into the subject after seeing its benefits I decided that I'll give it a try on our platform. I'll give more details into what and how this system works. The science is pretty cool. Also if mods could move those comments from Marcus' build thread to hear that would be appreciated. Here are the turbos that I'll be using, a Holset Baby H1C(73mm exducer) and a Holset HX52(98mm exducer). ImageUploadedByTapatalk1374080203.326703.jpg To mention a few @06Speed6; @djuosnteisn; @Tokay444; @Captain KR; @sleepyspeed6; @keefover; @Downmented; @jkowalski; @superskaterxes; @SPEED6 KILLAH; Ok so I know there are a few different ways to run a compound/sequential/whatever you want to call it. I believe my way is way more simple(relatively speaking) than using air diverter valves and all of that. Essentially I'll have a EWG topmount turbo setup(smaller H1C) with its downpipe and EWG dump tube routed to the exhaust inlet of the larger HX52. Which will in turn also be wastegated to control the overall power of the car. That's the exhaust side. On the intake side the Larger turbo (HX52), will be consuming atmospheric air and compressing it, sending it to the smaller (H1C) inlet to be further compressed. The interesting thing is that the boost pressures are additive, mean 10psi on the larger and 20psi on the smaller is 30psi at the manifold. This is the only thing that is additive. Pressure Ratios however are not those must be multiplied. Here's some pics for reference. ![]() ![]() ![]() The advantages I see to this system are that I should theoretically have tall broad torque bubble, which is created by overlapping the torque curves of each turbo as a single unit and just connecting the dots. I know this platform's torque curves on BT are very flat, but we'll see how is grows with this setup. here is the thread on YellowBulletForums that has all the heavy discussions in it regarding how exactly the boost pressures interact with each other. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...216811&page=45 More to come. I welcome any comments, discussion, questions, etc.
