Default BNR S4 with a tial 44mm ewg

2010 ms3
49k miles

Current Mods.
Corksport dp/tp
3" straight pipe to fart can cause rice ya know
autotech internals
cobb apv3
gfb bov
cx racing fmic
cobb intake/inlet
ngk spark plugs

Started tuning the ko4 with Will from purple drank. Every revision it seemed like I was doing more and more to the car. Stuff I've done in the last 2 months.

EGR delete
coolant bypass
tranny fluid flush with the motocraft unicorn jizz
VTCS delete
shaved the tab off runner one
corksport injector seals
valve cleaning
dual occ's

Leak down test saw 5% in 1 through 3 and 7% in cylinder 4. Compression came back in the 180's I can't remember off the top of my head (This was before the valve cleaning need to do another test). Engine feels good and everything seems healthy. I haven't even finished my pump gas tune yet and I just really feel like the ko4 is extremely underwhelming. So underwhelming that I said fuck it and bought a bnr s4. I'll be running it with a tial 44mm ewg by using the cobb iwg bracket to keep the iwg closed. Here's the parts list.

tr8 intercooler
jbr crashbar
51r battery and tray
4" intake
bnr s4
cobb adjustable iwg bracket
tial 44mm ewg
custom john russell tubular exhaust manifold
3 bar map sensor and harness
cobb ebcs

Hoping for high 300's with an e85 mix. I'll probably end up doing some sort of aux fueling as I have a feeling Will will tell me to do so. The turbo is on back order so I probably won't get it for another 2 weeks. Yes this is on stock block and yes I'm probably on borrowed time. I'm going to build the block once I get the money so hopefully this can last me about a year. Should be fun and I'm looking forward to the ewg.

I'll post pictures, videos, and data. I'll update when I can.

Default BNR S4 with a tial 44mm ewg

Turbo is on backorder still. 2 more weeks minimum is my guess. Got the crash bar, battery tray, and ewg. Also decided to order the Damond trilogy mounts. Here's some pictures of the car and some work that has been done. Damond mounts will go in this weekend.

1999 called.....they want their muffler back.

Good luck with build. Still trying to decide between S4 and CS. Subbed for results.

That muffler is a bit ricey. I would expect that on a subie or a evo.

And just get the S4.

Looks like you're doing everything right, can't wait to see the results with the S4 with your mod combo. Btw what'd you use to clean off the stem of the injectors in preparation of the CS seals? I'm installing same seals soon with pnp IM, Stage 1 OCC etc. soon and buying a set of lower mile Pu injectors to use during the swap and want to know whats safe to use to clean off the injectors

Everyone calling the muffler ricey forgot that Greddy used to make a off the shelf catback for gen1 with the RS canister muffler before they went bankrupt and discontinued it. I'm actually trying to hunt one down or replicate the design :/

If I had a gen one, I could possibly see getting an N1 style muffler or something similar to that greddy you posted.

But, angled out to the side and all that is as dead as "you might be a redneck" jokes IMO. All the little vatos here did that to every car imaginable, and ruined the look.

To each their own though, still looking forward to seeing this build.

The rice isn't for everyone for sure and I agree they are played out. It was something I wanted and so there it is. If that's the only negative feedback I get then I'm happy

The manifold is still at dr0's house. I'll be sure to take pictures before putting it in.

Installed the Damond mounts. Went from a jbr 88 with stock tmm and pmm. Really liking them. Vibes are similar to the jbr while driving, but I def feel a decrease in deceleration vibes. Idle vibes much higher. Increased engine noise, vibes in the gas pedal and shifter. Gotta wait for the mounts to settle but I love em already. Extremely happy with the purchase. Also installed the jbr small battery tray and battery. Not a fan of the design with hooks on both sides and the supplied nuts suck went with my own. I'm going to grind down the hook, I saw in another post on here where the hook punctured their intake. Did the ecu on top of the fuse box to fit the 4" intake. Here's a pic of the hook I'm talking about in the first pic. Also with the mounts It's important to pay attention to what way you put in the bushing as one side is flush and one side is slightly extended (circled in the last picture).

Installed the crash bar and tr8. Didn't really pay attention to the difference in width between them and my couplers are not long enough. Put in an order for some longer ones. Also you are supposed to reuse the bolts for the radiator support but I stripped the thread. I'll just go with a nut and bolt.

I personally would've went HTP on the battery tray since it's tried and true but things are coming along otherwise it seems. You for the more narrow TR8 you could use 2.5" aluminum couplings with 2.5" straight couplers to connect to the end tanks since it looks like you only need a few inches to connect to the pipes around the rad support.

proper term for couplings is actually 'joiner', this is what I meant

Thanks dude. I actually found some 90* couplers 4" in length on each side which should work as long as I'm not an idiot with measuring. Going the joiner route would've cost about the same it seems.

The tray works but I def think some improvements could be made

Only thing that worries me with that length of silicone is same expansion that JBR's kit is plagued by

One side will be longer than the other so I will trim it down or just have it cover up a lot of the pipe. I don't think I'll run into any problems but what the hell do I know lol I'll post on here when I get them

Single exit with dual cut-outs = racecar. i may be alone in saying this, but I like it!

How can you have dual cut-outs on a single turbo with 1 downpipe??

I think he means the cutouts in the bumper molding where the exhaust exits.

Hey man, do you mind to share the link to 4" 90 degree coupler? Hard to get 4" length even for reducer.

Tr8 installed. No problems with the couplers holding boost just fine. Emptied the occ and can't believe I waited so long to put one on. Sick. Also cut off the tmic posts. It's nothing fancy but it will do. Still need to figure out what color scheme I want to go with for the pipes, vc, and im. Picked up a maisonvi shift knob. I have every part I need minus the turbo. 4 weeks since I put the order in so hopefully I get it here soon. Trying to stay patient lol

Been busy but thought I would update. Turbo finally got here and I have all the parts needed! Turbo install will be Sunday and I'm getting a dump tube welded on Monday. I'll be sure to take plenty of pictures.

Long day but got everything in. Manifold is a tight fit and it was huge pain in the ass. Getting a dump tube welded tomorrow. I forgot to mention with the manifold it did crack around the waste gate opening. Local guy fixed it and should hold up. It was previously on a ms6 with a 3071. Enough talk here's some pics.

Alright guys everything is running great just waiting on a local friend to weld me a dump tube. Here's a teaser vid of how it sounds if anyone is interested. I love the spool up sound in low boost it puts a big ol smile on my face (as you'll see in the video lol). I can't open the wastegate all the way for fear of melting something, but I should have the dump tube on by the weekend. I hit about 14.5 pounds in the video. I know reckless without the dump tube.

Got the dump tube welded. Here's a ricer flyby. Base map pump gas. Lots of power still on the table time to start logging and tuning!

Great build sir, go beat up on some focus RS's. My car is all blacked out with gold metallic rims as well. It's gorgeous when clean, but you become bitter towards rain, and pollinating trees.

When do you anticipate the tune to be done? When does your turbo spool up? Dyno date?

When do you anticipate the tune to be done? When does your turbo spool up? Dyno date?
There's a big car event August 6th and there will be a dyno. So I'm hoping to have the tune dialed in as much as possible by then. Even if it isn't I'll still put it on just to see where things are. I still have to figure out if the divorced downpipe is going to give me any back pressure problems. I'm anticipating it will, but I want to check first. It was something I didn't consider until the turbo went in. Once everything looks good I'm going to actually dyno tune it. Local shop will hook up it at a decent price. Turbo spools up at about 4200ish but that's just a guess I haven't looked at any logs. I just need to force myself to go take logs but I'm pretty picky and want to do the same stretch of road every time and the road I like best is about 15 minutes from my house.
