Default djohns ko4 delete thread
Alright guys so I figured I should start this thread now so I'm not swamped later. When i first bought this car i had intended to remain mostly stock, and never even thought of a bigger turbo. But one night I ran into someone with a gen1 and we went at it for awhile and I lost every time. When we finally pulled over and starting talking the only mods he had differently was fuel pump internals and an intercooler, so we exchanged numbers and went about our night. That night I went home and ordered fuel pump internals and was convinced I was going to show him who the boss was next time around. Well weeks later we crossed paths again and I thought I was going to take him out but got swept yet again. This time around he had added a test pipe. This started the mod wars and our now awesome friendship. Slowly I caved and bought more bolt on's in an attempt to finally beat him but he was always one step ahead of me and so I got bit by that special bug. I decided a bigger turbo was in order and had decided the corksport or BNR s3 because I didn't want to build. Well, then the s4 happened. Damn you BNR. So far for this build i have gathered, a block (previously owned by @MATT DAMOND; still needs to be cleaned and honed), weisco pistons, k1 rods, COBB ebcs, KW v3 coilovers, HTP 3.5" intake, Corksport battery box, a crank, and some little other things. The s4 is coming in March as a 21st birthday present to myself. I'll be updating this thread as more parts come in. All tuning will be provided by my man @Justin@Freektune; He in my opinion is hands down the best tuner for our platform.
Current mods: JBR trilogy (will be replaced with DM)
Depo racing downpipe
Cpe top mount IC
JBR intake & TIP
Autotech HPFP
GFB hybrid bpv
Custom catback
JBR short shifter
Eibach lowering springs
DM OCC
Freek tune

I got bit once by that special bug (when I bent a rod). I need my wife to get bit, so I can get a GTX2867R....

Quick update on this: all the suspension is going in on Saturday thanks to help off @WetzMS3; and our kickass Nator IL group. Suspension consist of KW v3 coilovers, spc camber arms, MOOG rear endlinks, and e46 m3 front endlinks.

Good luck with the build man! Subbed for results on the S4 and built motor. Will it see valvetrain upgrades eventually or just gonna stick with stock since it's a mzr flange turbo?

No need to upgrade the valvetrain unless you plan to rev fairly high. With the S4 power should come on low enough that you won't need to run it out that high. Coupled with the pu gearbox, running it out to 7300 or so would get you to thru 1/4 mile staying in 4th. The OEM valve train can handle that.

Finally did my taxes and they told me that I'll be getting the s4 shortly. Got the new to me suspension in with the fantastic help from Nator IL. Ran into a problem with having the rear spring adjustors being missing but I'm working on getting those back now.

Quick update everyone, after calling around to about 12 different shops I think I found one I like (micron engine and machine) to clean and hone my block as well as polish the crank. Should be dropping it off Thursday so I'll be starting the bottom end build soon enough.

If I don't have the best girlfriend I don't know who does. Had these arrive today, time to build a short block. Main bolts, main bearings, Rod bearings, oil squirters, oil pump chain, oil strainer, and crank pully bolt.
