(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score 23 Aug 2013: Car was Bought left with 16 miles on it 30 Aug 2013: CorkSport SRI & TIP arrived & Installed 27 Sept 2013: Cp-E stage 2 RMM installed, this mount makes such a huge difference! 29 Sept 2013: JBR SSP installed, Block8Head pod installed, Gauges wires routed, boost gauge installed (awaiting pressure sensor for Oil pressure gauge) 3 Oct 2013: AutoTech HPFP internals installed, EGR Delete, and tune started 19 Oct 2013: First Oil Change at 1345 Miles 23 Oct 2013: Ebay M2 Downpipe installed (1440 miles) 25 Oct 2013: Synapse DV installed (1500 miles) NGK one step colders waiting to be installed, going to wait until I install my FMIC to get them in. Damond Motorsports OCC w/ sight tube is still on back order but from what I hear it is well worth the wait! Synapse DV, grimmspeed EBCS, Bosch 3 Bar map, Bitwise PNP connector, and TR6 FMIC core w/ CX racing pipe are all waiting to be installed.. Once everything is installed going to finish my tune then start working on a tune for an E85 mix. Observations: After installing the SRI and the TIP it really made it so you can hear the BPV and get that “turbo” sound although not as loud as a VTA BOV. Additionally, you can really hear the air getting sucked into the turbo and it raised my average MPG from about 24 mpg to around 28 mpg. The RMM has been by far one of my favorite mods done to this car. It turned it into something new, before I would spin into 2nd and wheel hop in 1st was bad too, with the power I am making it the wheel hop and 2nd gear traction issues have been eliminated. I bought mount used so I did not see any high vibes that anyone talks about. For the first day I had it installed in the car I noticed it vibing a little at really low rpms or when starting it but it really didn’t bother me. The SSP was cake to install, barely took any time and I love it! Although I have noticed twice going into 3rd was a little weird and also once going from 4th to 3rd felt off, it was most likely driver error but may have been due to the SSP. The block8head dual pod is definitely a quality product with excellent craftsmanship, my glowshift gauges fit nice in them. I used a soldering iron on the plastic in the vent to melt it for routing the wires/vac tube. The oil pressure wires and the vac tube were pushed through the hood release hole in the firewall. I taped them to a coat hanger and fed it through which made it extremely easy and the gauges are powered from the fuse box with add-a-circuits that I got a vatozone/oreilly’s. I had help with the HPFP internals but overall the install was fairly easy. Once they were installed I started getting my tune. The tune made the car feel like a whole different beast, throttle response is amazing now and my gas mileage has increased when I’m not getting on it. Averaging 32-35 mpg on the highway and 28ish city. When I get on it I get about 22mpg. During the Downpipe install make sure you are very careful with the top sensor, they strip out very easily. Also if you purchase an ebay downpipe you will need to have a new bung welded in or have the extended bung shortened. It cost me $30 to have a new one welded in (including the bung). Also when you get it welded in go a little higher (maybe 1 to 2 inches above the extended) so that when installing the old sensor your wires aren't to short.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I went with the NGKs over Denso ITVs because the densos were out of stock, after some more research and chatting with some of the guys in shout it seems NGKs are the better route. I got one step colder plugs because as you add power it increases the heat, colder plugs dissipate that heat better preventing predetination. I have them just sitting on the side for now because I'm not making enough power to actually need them, but I figure once the FMIC and downpipe go on and along with a new tune they will be a helping factor in reducing or mitigating any possible KR.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yea, I ended up ordering it last night, haha. I have the plugs sitting on the side right now, everything should be arriving mid next week with the exception of the OCC, Matt said he is super backed up on them but I don't mind waiting.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I like the blowshift gauge, the boost that it reads is accurate with my logs and when looking at other individuals vacuum mine seems to be right where theirs is so definitely no complaints from me yet. Hopefully it will last for a bit but for now I feel it's performing a lot better than what I had expected. @sleepyspeed6; is tuning me and teaching me the ropes. Extremely knowledgeable and very humble guy! Once I get the parts in that I have on order and my tune finished I am going to do a couple dyno runs to see where I am at then onwards to a 30/70 e98/91 oct gas mix.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hmm, I think breaking in a motor is a pretty important step that is too often overlooked. You may want to cool it with running your engine too hard. Parts need to settle in with each other before you start beating on your car. Better to be safe.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I didn't quite drive like I stole it when I took it off the lot; I did a lot of talking a research on our motors and break in procedures. From what I have learned Mazda does a pretty good job with them before they ship it out but getting your rings to seat is still required and recommended. For my break in I was pretty easy on it for the first 500 miles and would take it up the mountains and follow normal break in procedures for the rings. Your first 250 is generally the most crucial times for rings to seat so I made sure I went up to the mountains to ensure my rings would be seated to the best of my ability. As far as the rest of the parts I’m not too concerned, especially with this platform and the technological advances that have been made in the automotive world over the last decade. That’s just my outlook on it though, other people may feel differently. If I blow my motor then I blow my motor, when modding cars it’s just something you need to accept knowing it can happen.
