It's boost based logic. It's a better OTS map but its not as good as an e-tune

Thanks guys, I went ahead and downloaded the v231 map and flashed it.

It was a nice cold night tonight and I wanted to see what kind of a difference the car is and wow, I am pleasantly surprised. I logged a 1st-2nd run and I was spinning tired in both first and second gear.

The log was more for me to see where I am at my fuel pressure in relationship to my boost/WOT. I'm no expert, but from what I can see on my first run (datalog4.csv) the fuel pressure is fine. However, in my second log (datalog5.csv) rows 90-102 may be a little bit of a worry. I notice that my throttle position is at 75% (from my searches that actually means WOT) and my fuel pressure ranges in the 1300-1500 range and I was still pulling 14-15psi. Don't quite know what happened there.

I've attached the pulls for if anyone would like to take a look at them.

Yes, throttle at 75-77% = WOT.

Not sure how you are doing your logs, (and I may not be doing them all together right!) but you want to be consistent, and in this case, what you only care about is WOT engine performance, in third or fourth, fourth is best.

Use a clear, flat road. I use the same road all the time.

Car needs to be warmed up.

Pick what gear you want to log, third or fourth. I use third, fourth if your state does not consider over 80 reckless endangerment and pull your license. First and Second gears are not loading the engine enough to get a good read.

When you are in your gear, do not start your WOT till you are above 3000 RPM. I usually ramp up to my shift to third @ 3400, thinking it is prepping the hpfp for a big pull. Don't know if this is what it does.

Start log, and hold peddle to floor till you hit 6,500. Stop log. My logs are usually less than 6 seconds.

Then, you can analyze your hpfp and see what its up to. Remember you only care about hpfp at WOT.

Sounds like you are on your way - apologies if you already knew some of this stuff, not trying to preach.

oh boy... this is the blind leading the blind. start your logs as low as 2600rpm up to 3000rpm. i know of one guy who goes as low as 2000rpm. set your AP to flash at 6500 so you can watch the road and not your tach. display KR while doing your logs and let off if you see >2.0.

it's not complicated to pull a log and there's lots of info on how to do it properly.

I still stand by suggestions - 3000 RPM min. - as I have seen my car dip into the 15's when I did a WOT....at 2800 RPM. Once you get some logs under your belt, lower if you want and you are assured hpfp looks safe. Do not see why lower RPM is good, as these cars have monster torque, and mixed with low RPM make a stressed engine.

This is not an e-tune, (yet). Should not need to be anal about KR, but it should not hit above 1.0, watch your logs. Uness you got serious engine issues, on the OTS map, you should only see small numbers infrequently.

I set AP to RPM, alarm at 6,200 as there is an ECU and human delay.

Download for this site: "Abilor's Tuning Guide_V1.0_6_21_2011" very helpful for us noobs....er blind people.

Learn the feel of the car, have fun. Be sure your cane is completly inside the car before closing the door.

Blind guy.

i'm just telling you how to do it right. it's funny that you mention abilor's guide. this is copied from it:

Get her up to speed, and settle into third or fourth gear. From there, you want to FLOOR IT from 2500 RPM to 6500 RPM.

it's whatever this guy wants to do. i don't give a shit. but to tell me i need to "read up" on how to do a data log is laughable because, if you read, you'll see that no one recommends starting at 3400 except for you.

Ok guys, let's just keep this on topic. Really do appreciate all of your knowledge and help on this.

Anyway, today I spent about 10 minutes and put in my RMM.

First thing I noticed was the "vibrations" at lower RPMs when easing off the clutch. Nothing that is earth shattering and nothing someone should complain about if you're modding cars.

Overall, it seems pretty solid on initial drive.

Car has 230 miles on it now.

Nice!

I wish I got the chrome-Molly, but got a scared off by the supposed vibes and did the 70 duro.

Listen to my two new experienced friends, they know tons more than me (like you had any doubt!). And I will refrain for overstepping my very limited knowledge. I just get a little too wound-up, and that can lead to over-confidence. Lesson learned.

Did you get window working again?

So it's been a while since I've made a post.

I've just been driving the car and enjoying it.

I ended up picking up the SURE Shortcut and Counterweight from a user on here and just got around installing it today. No problems on the install. I sat in the car and went through the shifts and seems slightly different. I haven't driven the car yet, but maybe I expected shorter shifts then what it is now.

Car now has close to 600 miles

Here are some pics

Nothing new for the Mazdaspeed3, but I got something nice for Christmas that will benefit all my cars.

Santa brought me some nice race ramps. I was worried about "low profile" cars not being able to get up on the ramps. I tested it with my Miata and I had no problem at all. I am pretty amazed at how high this thing is able to get the car off the ground. Easy DIY oil changes now.

Nice ramps!

If you ever need help with any installs I am just up the 880.

We got our cars a few days apart. I just hit 1500 miles and I'm trying to get bolted and tuned by 3k! Just waiting for shit to come in at this point.

Good luck with the build.

Well it's been a while since I've updated this thread because I haven't done much with the car.

Just passed 1000 miles on the car the other day.

Looking to pickup internals and maybe go after some suspension depending upon my tax returns.

Are you driving up on those ramps, or jacking car and putting ramps under?

You push the ramps to your wheels and then you get in your car and just drive straight up.

It has been a good while since I last updated the thread. Haven't done much with the car.

I had ordered internals about a month ago but Edge had been on back order for a month. Well they are finally on their way and it should be here tomorrow.

I was bored so I decided to Plasti-dip the emblems and my fog bezels.

It was actually a lot easier than I thought but I'm going to re-do my rear center emblem because some of it peeled off. It got dark so I'm going to have to do it another time.

I can't believe it's already been over 6 months since I bought the car. The car still has around 1700 miles on it and nothing much has changed. I got my internals but haven't had the time to get them installed yet.

It was a good day today, so I took her to get washed and snapped some quick pictures.

Enjoy!

Wow,

it has been a long time since I've done anything to the car. It has been a year since I bought my car and I have just over 3500 miles on the car. Had my first oil change a couple of weeks ago.

I found a great deal on a UR catback system and I spent 2 hours getting it installed today. Surprisingly quiet from the inside as it still sounds stock. When I listen to this video though, it definitely is a lot louder than stock.

Enjoy

No new additions to the Mazdaspeed3. My focus has been on finding a RT/10 Viper.

The car is close to 6000 miles as of today. It'll be getting its second oil change ever this month

I've got a 1994 RT/10. I am sure you've looked into things to look out for but going to reiterate the head gaskets. If its a gen1 look out for the paper ones not being changed. Otherwise great cars for the money!

Not much work done to the Mazdaspeed3. I've owned the car for almost 2 years and have almost 7,000 miles on it. No problems so far *knock on wood*. Still have those internals that I haven't got around to installing primarily because I've been paying attention to modding this

Very nice! Congrats on the purchase. If I was to do it over again I would probably have went with a GTS. The RT/10's are nice but nothing on the road looks like a GTS.

Here is mine (and my nephew)

Over 2 years since my last update. Pretty crazy. Been daily driving it and it has been a great car but thinking about switching it up for something else (no idea what)

Almost getting close to 30,000 miles on it.

Man, so much has changed from a car perspective haha.

Its now December 2018 and I just passed 33K miles on the car. Since that time I've owned a 1997 Dodge Viper and a 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo as my toy cars. Both of those are sold for now and I am going to be putting my Mazdaspeed3 up for sale as I just bought a RS7 to replace it for the daily driving duties.

The Speed3 has been great, but time to move on.
