The Story...

When I turned 16, I got a '99 Honda Civic EX Sedan. That thing was a BEAST. Thats where I began my modding addiction with a set of MB Battle wheels and a nice sound system.

Once I totaled that car (twice) I got a GOLD '01 Civic EX Coupe which I had the same MB Battle wheels on and installed the same sound system. I furthered and worsened my modding addiction by adding an AEM SRI and an eBay CBE...ricer status

When I began working full time, I traded the '01 Civic in for a brand-spankin'-new black '13 Mazda 3i Touring 5-Door with 31 miles on it. I loved this car! I wanted a Speed3, but wasn't able to afford the insurance and gas. I put H&R Coilovers, Corksport SRI, Racing Beat RSB, Racing Beat ABE, Enkei T-Fork 17x7 wheels, DDM HIDs (30w/6000k) and yes, the same sound system as the civics into this car and drove it like a race car... becuase I could. Recently in mid-2015 I got bored of the 150hp engine and decided to bite the bullet.

In August, 2015 I bought a white '12 Mazdaspeed 3 and the modding but bit me HARD;

August 17, 2015, Day 1:
Mazda Day 1 1.jpg
Mazda Day 1 2.jpg

First came the tint. I went with 20% all around. Then I put in 2x Memphis Subwoofers with a Memphis Mono amp. Finally switched from the civic system.

Because I just bought a house and new motorcycle ('07 ZX6R) I had to save a bit before I could spend a lot of money on parts. I experimented with plasti-dip and did my wheels and hood scoop, followed by the rear bumper:
tiny and plasti.jpg

Then I gave up on "saving" when I realized the OEM RMM was failing. I invested in a JBR 88Duro RMM as my first mod. No photos.

Next came the roof-racks... Yakima.
roof racks.jpg

Then came the DDM HID's (30w/6500k)
Sorry, no photos... yet.

Corksport SRI and TIP came next. Really bought it just for the sound but I knew i'd be building power in the future so I jumped on a deal I found from a fellow speed3 owner parting out.

Muffler delete came next... luckily a buddy of mine is a technicial at the localish ford/mazda shop so I had access to tools and a lift!
Weld 2.jpg
Weld 1.jpg

Then came the Corksport test pipe which I got, again, from a fellow speed3 owner.

Since then I have put in H&R Coilovers and the Racing Beat RSB. I used the same coilovers and RSB from my Mazda 3i and it fit fine. For the RBS, I just drilled the end-link holes to 12mm and it fit perfectly. No issues at all!

I also removed all of the plasti-dip from the wheels and hood. I think it looks cleaner.
now.jpg

I'm saving for these Limited Edition RX-8 Wheels too.
r8.jpg

Most recent I got my Cobb Accessport and I started to run the Stage 1+ OTS Mp (93 Octane). I just received my Autotech HPFP internals and those will be getting installed soon. After that is a DP and then a pro-tune and I will be happy for a while!

I'll keep updating as I mod more.

I have many goals in mind, but right now I just want fast and healthy!

My partner in crime; '05 Evo, with a fully build engine, 3" custom turbo-back and a lot of other stuff that I probably don't know about.

Just ordered an eBay Short DP to be installed next week followed by a tune at the end of January... hopefully!

Today the Autotech HPFP Internals were installed along with the switch to Rotella T6.
Install wen't pretty smooth aside from needing a few tools I didn't have handy.

Fuel Pressure
Cold Start: Spikes to ~1850
Idle: ~400-450
Regular Driving: ~1500-1700
WOT: 2050+

Datalog to come tomorrow.

Sounds like you got the bug. It doesn't seem to ever go away.

Good luck continuing :-)

Downpipe was shipped out today and hopefully will be received in time to install this weekend. Got some NKG6510 plugs that are going in tomorrow. I gapped them at .028 (as close to the same as possible by measuring with the coin tool).

Once the DP is in I will be scheduling with Hypnotic Tuning for an e-tune!

Next mod on the list is an FMIC...

Installed my DP today. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
Right afterwards, purchased my tunes through Hypnotic! Can't wait!

I began my e-tune with Hypnotic yesterday. So far have just used the base map but it's like Christmas time again for me... Anxious to see how this tune works out. It's my first time ever having a car tuned, so I'm excited.

Other than that, I got a deal on some RX-8 Shinka wheels, 18x8. I threw those puppies on... Tempted to change the color to a darker gunmetal but they already change the look for the car. Much cleaner in my opinion.

That's a great way to lose several lbs of un-sprung and rotational weight on all corners. I need to start looking for some

With the Shinka's? Hmmm, weird. I've heard they're actually heavier than the OEM MS3 wheels. Now I'm curious. Although I would assume they are more of a performance wheel seeing as to how they came on a Special Edition 307hp RX-8.

Either way, I love the look.

Back to the story...

I am now on the 2nd revision of the tune from Hypnotic and OH MAN I'm loving this... and my car is too. The car is now running about 21.5PSI and pulls harder while running smoother. Can't wait to see how the E85 runs.

Wow... been a while since I've been on here.

I finished the tune with Hypnotic; 33% e85 mix and 335WHP/371TQ.
Very happy with it!

Not much has happened with my car since the tune, but the itch came back really fast when my Evo friend got to be able to keep up with me.

I blew my front struts on the H&R Coilovers, so the car is back to stock suspension with the H&R shocks in the rear. Also put some 20mm spacers and mud flaps to give the car a more aggressive look.

I recently purchased some Stoptech slotted rotors for the front with posi-quiet brake pads, so those will be going on soon.

Next up is FMIC. I'm still debating between going with the CX Racing kit ($350), the TR6 and CX Piping Kit ($450, same power restrictions as CX Racing core, however a higher quality core) or going right with the TR8L and CX Piping kit ($470, would have to modify crash bar on by DD). My only hesitation on the TR8L is having to cut the crash bar, but from what I've read, the CX Racing core and TR6 wont be sufficient when I go BT (thinking BNRS3 - but thats a ways away).

Thinking time...

Ended up going with the Cx Racing FMIC kit for the time being. I plan on upgrading to a TR8L in the near future. Currently have a log out to Hypnotic for a touch up tune.

Just place an order for a set of Koni Yellows and Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Going to install these as soon as I get them. Photos to come!!
