(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score This build starts out with a little bit of history on how my motor blew, long story short there were some bad hands that touched the car (not anyone in the Mazda community but a local shop) and after about a month the turbo blew, then a few days after that was replaced the motor went, I spun a bearing in cylinder 3. Reason behind me going to a local shop was i had a very bad driving record and could not afford to get a ticket while doing WOT logs until car was tuned, so i resorted talking to multiple shops and one who had been working on the speed3 platform seemed to know their stuff or so i thought! My mistake! I started saving money to purchase a new fully assembled long block from Mazdaspeed Motorsports for $3100, well when i had the money i called and they were clean out of motors. They also informed me that the warehouse they get them from was completely out as well and wouldn't have any for a few months. When that news came in i pretty much blew the money i had saved like an idiot. I then decided instead of just going stock why not build. Now almost a year later i have gotten the money to build a block to the fullest without sleeving it and buy all the bigger parts i wanted. I decided to go with a shop called RevWorks here in Orlando. These guys have been building motors for years and do excellent work. My motor has been sitting in the shop waiting for me to drop off the last $400 i owe. Here are the parts i decided to go with and what i decided to do with the motor: -Wiseco 88mm pistons (K640M88) -Manley H beam rods (14032-4) -Clevite rod bearings (CB-1925H) -Clevite Main Bearings (MS-2245H) -Supertech valve seals (VSI-D5.5E) -Supertech valve guides (GDE-DUR16) -Duratec valve springs (SPRK-TS-DUR-DS) -ACT 6 puck clutch/streetlight flywheel (ZX4-HDG6) -keyed crank -pin cams Mods to the car: -GT35r -HTP 4" intake/Mushroom filter -Kozmic OCC -Corksport Large FMIC core/CX piping -DNP Exhaust manifold -PTP injector seals -and the rest of the jazz that everyone else has and knows already! I'm ready to get this motor in and back into the community. Having no speed to drive really sucks and makes the car scene kinda far fetched since you see all others enjoying their cars. But this is a process and i've had a few speed bumps with having to move 2 times during this past year but its almost finished and i couldn't be more excited!! Here are a few pictures they have sent me during the build. |
