Default 2013 speed starting issues

I have a 2013 speed. And in the last 2/3 months every once in a while it doesn't start very well.
Normally push the button and comes to life immediately. Maybe two times a week it take maybe 3-5 seconds to come to life. And yesterday it came to life right away but ran really rough for maybe 20-30 seconds, tried to press the accelerator and it slightly bogged out. After the 20 seconds it woke up and was fine for the rest of the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Quite possibly a stuck EGR valve. I had random hard starting/long crank issues with mine, and that's a fairly common issue to have. What happens is the EGR valve gets carboned up and the valve sticks open even with the engine cold.

I did an EGR delete and tuned out the CEL to correct this. But others have success removing the EGR valve and cleaning it.

Clean the EGR, mine was doing something similar until I cleaned it last weekend. Starts right up now!

I took my car to another dealer for another opinion and all they came up with is to have the throttle body cleaned. They said the EGR is working fine.
This is getting rather frustrating . I'm still under extended warranty. I have told my dealer if you find the egr faulty right after my warranty expires I ain't paying for it. They said we wouldn't charge you in that case.

Does the EGR delete affect emissions test ?

Yessir, you'd throw a check engine light. I had my tuner disable the code to get around this. And where I live (Wisconsin) you're allowed 1 "not ready" monitor and can still pass emissions.

Several people have said Techron fuel system cleaner has cleaned their EGR enough to get it to work again. Run the bigger of the Techron bottles in a 3/4 to full tank of gas and see if that helps.

What gasoline do you normally run?

I had a similar issue. I just ran some SeaFoam in the gas tank. Car has started instantly the last week. No lag or 4-5 seconds randomly trying to fire up. I put the Sea Foam full bottle in near a empty gas tank and filled up with gas

Update.... Just cleaned the MAF sensor, sprayed it down with proper cleaner, and did an ECU reset.. I will monitor it as well .

My car is back to having a rough start. 3/4 seconds and it will kick in. Other times it's instant. What should I try first. Car only has 40,000Km. Low mileage. I find it's rough if the car sits 3-4 hours.

Cleaned the MAF sensor out. Ran gas cleaner. Maybe spark plugs?
They are original ones about 40455 KM on the car

I'd clean the EGR valve. Mine did exactly that on cold starts. Once warm it was fine.

Gonna get the EGR valve cleaned and oil change in a few weeks. Plugs were just changed yesterday but issue remains a bit. Hope EGR fixes it! My battery is solid no issues.

I have cleaned my EGR twice in 8 years for similar symptoms, runs great after cleaning, only takes about 2 hrs. or less and a little antifreeze.

Sounds good. I will have it cleaned in a few weeks. It's weird because sometimes it will just fire instantly. Hate the rough starts. Looks like the EGR valve clean is the fix. Car is bone stock.

On a side note my AC is acting a bit weird. Randomly it seems the AC isn't as cold (even when the weather is warmer or colder). Most of the time nice and cold. Possibly AC needs to be topped up?

Does it only have the hard start under a cold start? My gut feeling would be something like a bad check valve in the in tank fuel pump or something similar if its only during cold starts.

It's kind of a mix. Warmer weather I find effects it. It's weird this morning started instantly after sitting. Yesyeday gf and I go for lunch. About hh later she noticed it struggled to start. Too the point it tried and almost cut out, fired up. Gonna get the EGR cleaned out. Hopefully that helps.

Had EGR cleaned. Some buildup there. Starting issue remains. Rough starts random. Anything else I can do?
