Are basic bolt-ons really worth the money?

I built a list of the mods I would install on my car. I know I could get a cheaper DP but it would only save me a couple hundred bucks.

Shure MotorSports RMM - $135
AutoTech HPFP internals - $399
Cobb AccessPort - $595
Cobb SF intake - $175
Cobb Downpipe - $695

Total: $1,999.00

How much power will I be making with the mods above? I just want to make sure this $2,000 well spent and not just a lame increase in power.

I could get a pretty nice set of wheels/lowering springs for the same $$$$.

I'm sorry but the Cobb downpipe is so much...i know its an amazing quality piece and they make the best of the best but thats a little much...i got a barely used ATP dp for 220 and I'm pretty sure it'll make the same power...get it new for 300...other than that you have a great list of first mods so yeah it's worth it

CNT Catted DP is around ~$330 shipped, basically the same as the Cobb but doesn't have the same fit and finish of a $700 piece. That's a great way to spend 2k and you should expect close to 280whp... that's the setup I had minus the internals when I got a pro-tune in September, luckily my pump hadn't crapped out yet and I made 279whp and 294wtq.

I assume a "DJ Tune" is some guy that I send me logs to and he does a custom tune for me over email? Where can I get more info on this?

You're right though, I'd rather have ads between every post and at the beginning/ending of threads, as well as a few banners down the sides of the site, as long as it was free.

edit: I'd also like to be at the mercy of forum vendors deleting negative posts about their products. It would also be nice to have the forum ran by a 3rd party company who doesn't give two shits about the car.

I also really like bad servers and poor site security/low privacy.

One thing I can't stand though is giving up $10, especially when it means I have to abandon all of those things I love so dearly.

Good mod list minus the DP. I suggest donating for access to the VIP section. Then you can browse everything people are selling and pick those parts much cheaper.

The $10 will save you way more $$$ if you go this route.
