Default SKYACTIV-D 2.2 Twin-Turbo Diesel for 2014 Mazda 6?

Did anyone else hear about this? I didn't see any specs on it, but it sounds pretty sweet.

Yeah there are no confirmed specs, but at least its the TT Skyactiv-D is confirmed for US.

According to Mazda, it will be available in January. They are also saying the CX5 will have an additional 30hp/35tq from the 2.5L Skyactiv G motor and still get 32mpg.

I read it was going to be 178hp and 302tq and that their diesel motor that they are entering the Le Mans race with will be pushing 400hp and ???tq. That is sick. If Mazda makes a 300hp and 500tq diesel sporty car, I would be all over that!!!

I'd have to drive it. Diesel cars generally lack the punch that a gasoline car does.

I think my gf is thinking the same thing! I have a friend who is a sales rep at a mazda dealer, can't wait to check out the diesel cx5 and 6... A diesel 6 with AWD would fit the bill perfectly for me...

"Performance of a 4 liter V8"
There is diesel nuthugging on every car site I visit. People are always talking about the torque and how powerful they are, yet just about every diesel car I look up is slow as balls. What am I missing here? I'm assuming the base 2.5 189hp/189tq will be way faster than the 2.2 170hp/300tq diesel?

Pretty sure its the specs below - 170/300. Couple that with a nice auto and the thing should get up and go pretty damn good with that torque.

Nah - midrange power is where it's at, plus the transmission will be tuned (at least the autos you'll inevitably find in the CX5) will be tuned to keep the engine right in the meat (giggity) of the power band...

I read a publication state in a very recent article that acceleration between the gas engine and the oil burner is actually very comparable out of the box, according to Mazda.

Of course doesn't mean the oil burner doesn't have more performance potential...

All I honestly want is AWD. Manual or not. As long as the tranny can handle a good amount of torque.

Think Focus...the EM is built into the head and connects to the first compound turbo...then it dumps its DP and WG into the 2nd turbo...badass LAIC between the two.

I read somewhere that its about 180 hp and 3xxlb/feet, so dont get too excited.....but I would love to be wrong

I noticed it when I look over the pics again last night. I wonder what turbos they are using. I'm using holset baby h1c/gta40 combo for my setup.
