Default E and MPG

So I am about to start my E85 tune and was wondering what type of mpg you guys are getting on different mixes.

I have been searching and seeing numbers here and there but nothing really concrete. So tell me what %/gal you are running and what type of mpg you are getting.

MPG is a lot more accurate than MPT, please for the sake of consistancy and solid information keep this to MPG

Because I'm not runnin e yet.... our tanks may all be the same but that doesn't mean our gas gauges all read the same or that we all fill up at the exact same "empty" level

Mileage depends on driving style, where you drive, what the road conditions are and so many other variables it isn't even remotely funny.

Can you get shit mileage on pump gas? Of course.
Can you get better mileage on e than you did on pump? Yes you can. It isn't easy, but you can do it.

Just out of curiosity, where in fort worth are you finding ethanol? I live in north fort worth and the closest station I have found is in north richland hills.

I know many variables account for mpg but everyone puts a foot in it every now and then sooooo I just want to see what mpg is. I do not care how hard you drive.

On a long boosted pull (3-4-5 to red) you can watch the gauge go down on pure e.
City driving with a lean burn tune and no VVT you can get comparable or better mileage than a stock tune on 91.

This is based on my own experience.

On the highway I can *probably* make it 400 or so miles if I'm doing the speed limit and not 5 over like normal, and could likely get close to 450-500 highway on harder comp tires, lean burn, pulled VVT and a lower top speed; more with more drastic changes to the above.

400 miles on 50/50!!! That must be a world record!!! lamo. I want to see someone say that can beat that. I do not think I have the self control to make it that many miles. I average 350 a tank on 93 and I drive very mild!!!

If you don't flog it and keep the VVT low (low pedal input) it's very possible.

I just don't see the point to even Tune on e85 and worry about MPG or even buying a speed period. Go buy a Honda woman.

How are you liking your dp slut?

13% e85. about 17 mpg 60 city/40 highway. I usually downshift and go in boost whenever I need to pass or merge though so you get the idea.

On pump gas I used to average around 220ish at the 1/4 mark (This is when I fill up)

When I went on E85 I was hitting around 170ish. I do 3.3/7.35 (total 10.65) which is 31%E85

I have been Tuning to get better MPGs. This last tank, which I'm going to fill up after I type this is at 193.6 as shown in the pic. I even did 19 4th gear WOT logs too (Self Tune in Progress).

I'm a ricer so I blow-off all the time and try racing whoever I think I might lose too! Seriously.... Who the fuck cares that I could beat a honda, I try for the V6s and V8s! When I do race Hondas and slow cars I only shift in 5th gear and let them think they are almost as fast as a speed. LMFAO! Sand bagging at it's finest!

Default MPG

I get 19.4 MPG on a 4 gallon mix in the suburbs that is where most of my driving is and I consider myself heavy footed. My car sees the 5000 RPM daily.

With my 5gal/tank E70 mix and I was at 1/2 tank at 170 miles today with mostly highway driving...

I can get 340 miles/tank on straight summer 93, or 290 miles/tank on E30ish...

But I get way more smiles/mile with my E blend...

When I did a stright 100 mile stretch of highway I actually did around 83 miles before I hit the first quarter mark. Usually I am 45 by then when I do my city driving.. But its fucking worth it..

I have a 26 mile commute each way to work...so probably 80% of my miles are with the cruise control set to 62mph...

It's pretty easy to figure out: assuming you're running the same AFR, the difference in your mileage should be your injector scalar in ATR. For instance, I run E40 which necessitates an injector scalar of 1.16. In other words, I'm using 116% as much fuel as I would on regular gas. I'm pretty sure my understanding is correct on this, though I'm open to correction.

I will say this: I went down from about 24mpg to about 21. These numbers are consistent with the my reasoning above. Now, if you're running leaner when using ethanol because you no longer have to stave off pre-detonation based KR, you may get a little better mileage...

When I was on my 3 gallon e85 map with the k04, I would get under 200 to a tank. And I filled it when I was down to 0 miles.

But I have a very very heavy foot.

Someone here was configured for lean burn to the tune of 17:1 during cruise. I've been trying 15:1 but my car doesn't like it and throws a CEL before going back to stoich during cruise.

Lean burn will throw a CEL, I'm on my work computer now so I don't have all of the CEL checks in front of me but you can just shut them off.

Under low throttle I'm running 17:1 tapering down to 14.7:1 at idle. Be mindful that this may damage your cat if you're still catted as it will generally create higher combustion temps.

On my car (at least), when it throws the CEL it starts to ignore the targets and go for stoich again. Does yours not do this because you have the CEL disabled?
