(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score First off not all PP is Dexos. 10w30 is not as far as I have seen. PP high millage is also not the last time I checked. Anyway I have only used PP 5w30 since I purchased the car in 2009. It never smoked and so I never used anything else. I change the oil every 5000-7000 miles. Backstory: When I was still on the stock turbo I had a Freaktune E30 and ran like that for a year from about 95,000ish miles on. Then I started messing with my own tunes and moved up to E43ish (50:50) for about 6 months. I was planning to go full E85 but went back to 93 to get some logs and make myself a nice 93 tune. Then the stock turbo died, and I got myself a Corksport turbo and CNT turboback. I started off with a Freaktune 93 and E25. These tunes rocked and I am very happy with them. But for reasons other than more power I wanted a straight E85 tune. So I though I would see if Justin at Freaktune would want to tune me up for full E85. He warned me that I would not be able to run as much boost because of fuel and I said it's cool. So we got started. I decided not to do anything to prep for the switch. (other than buy some red line and make myself a kit to clean the spill valve should I need to) If the problem truly is E85 incompatible oil I should not have any issues because I have always used PP 5W30 which is Dexos. It begins: I ran the car past empty added 2 gallons of E85, ran to empty again and filled up with E85. Flashed my e85 tune. 50 miles in I had some surging but that subsided. 100ish miles in and E85 makes me happy. Smiles per mile is at an all time high. 200 miles in and I'm already on my second tank of E85 and taking logs. I am now dreaming of 6th port on an hourly basis. This car loves E85. It smells better, runs smoother, deceleration vibes are almost gone, and did I mention it smells great. As much as I would love to keep this experiment going I think I will call it a success at 500 miles; if it makes it that far. If anyone wants to donate a 6th port I will keep this going. Hope this helps someone. Peace,

| Not Ranked : 0 score Special note on PP 5W-30...my last oil change it was Dexos 1. Picked up a quart today to keep in the car...just in case...and I see it is now available in the somewhat new Dexos 2. Of all the oils on the shelf, this was the only brand/weight that was Dexos 2. The Dexos 1 logo is green. As you can see, Dexos 2 is blue. Although, now that I look at the bottle, I see Euro L. What the heck is that? Maybe I grabbed the wrong bottle?

| Not Ranked : 0 score dexos 2 is primarily meant for diesels, though sources say it can be for gasoline engines too, though typically Euro cars. GM Dexos 1 and Dexos 2 Motor Oil https://www.reference.com/vehicles/d...2eb74ea27c31bc Furthermore, for dexos 1 GM says: "The second generation dexos1™ specification was issued in 2015 to provide better vehicle performance as well as low speed pre-ignition (LSPI) protection, particularly for small displacement turbo-charged engines." So it seems like dexos 1 is a good idea for the DISI to me.

I️ have not yet used the EURO L, but thanks for posting, because I️ could totally see myself grabbing one of those on accident.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Took it back today and exchanged it for the right stuff. New bottle is Dexos 1 gen 2. NOT Euro L. Haha. My previous oil change bottle is Dexos 1 as mentioned, but it doesn't list gen 1 or gen 2, so I'm guessing it's gen 1.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score 450 miles on straight up E85. No sticky issues. Car absolutely rocks, even though I’m limited to about ~17psi, due to injector duty cycle. One more tank on full E85 before going back to E25.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Haha. Way more than one tank has passed. Over 1,300 miles and no sticky, no problems, Full E85. Santa needs to bring me a CS manifold with 4 injectors. Freezing temps this morning made for a slow start but no issues.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I thought I read somewhere that most of the benefits of E85 are achieved by 50% mix or E50 or something. After that, you're just eating up injector duty cycle. Cold be wrong, but might be worth looking into.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score You are totally right. I have an E30 tune that manages to use up most of my duty cycle and has much more Boost. This Full E85 was strictly because I wanted it. During hurricane season we ran out of 93 but there was always E85. So I wanted a tune just in case I needed to fill up on E85. I also wanted to see if I would get the sticky death. E85 is awesome and was always scared to run it because of the sticky. Lots of mixed reviews on what caused it but the cooked oil experiment was great and since I have never used any “non-approved” oil; it kind of confirms the sticky death cause. I think I still have a revision or two left before I find out how much HP I’m giving up by using full E85... but I will go back to E30 soon enough. I almost don’t mind the ~70HP I’m loosing. Lol. I lied I do miss it.
