Default Steering wheel leather worn out, anyone got a new wheel?

Anyone install one of these yet? Looks sweet. I like the D shape and thumb grip. Black with red stitching as well.

Corksport has a wheel in the works. The one you posted says Gen 3.

Genpu's steering wheel is currently in the works if you're willing to wait
not sure when it'll be released though @CorkSport;

But here's their genwon counterpart: 2007-2009 Mazdaspeed 3 Steering Wheel

Do a quick search on here and you'll find out that many people like it

Why not be a self-starter and do what I did? Oh yeah, it also only costs ~$25.00.

There's also a two-tone wheel skin for a bit more money.

With the needle and thread that they provide. It's not hard, but to do it properly it takes some time. It's a good project for a weekend afternoon.

Which thread color did you go with? Just worried if the red is too bright compared to other stitching in the car.

Well...considering that I've got an MS6, and the MS6 has never been available with red stitching anywhere in the car at all, I went with gray to try and match the silver/gray stitching elsewhere in the interior.

One mor e? vansquish. To put on the cover, how did you get it under the plastic trim pieces? Take them off? Tuck them under? I ordered a cover with red stitch BTW.

Thanks!

Congrats, I hope you like it! Keep in mind, it's PU-"leather" not real leather. It still feels pretty good though.

As for your installation questions, you just tuck it under, though you can remove those trim pieces to make life easier. When you start sewing it together, you have the opportunity to cinch the edges tighter together than elsewhere on the wheel, and that can help pull the material beneath the edges of the plastic trim.

Here's a youtube video of the process (yeah, it's on a BMW, but the process is basically identical on our cars).

Will do. I was surprised by all different styles to choose from. I just really liked that stitching.
Key words for genjuan search are:

"Old Mazda steering wheel cover". Lol

Thanks Andy, saw that already. I like this more than the Corksport (I assume it will be similar to the gen one wheel). That one just looks too much like a video game controller to me.

Where can one purchase an Autoexe wheel like that? Is the price comparable to the Corksport one?

Instead of creating a new post I'll revive this one !

Has anyone bought the corksport wheel for the pu?! Looks more aggressive than the auto exe, but the bottom seems to have a weird shape. The flat bottom is definitely wider than the auto exe one, which makes me think they elongated the bottom half of the wheel to meet up with the flat bottom. Which would make it feel weird in your hands I would presume. Would like to hear from someone who has driven around with it and if they like the feel.

Check this guy out, just ordered one. Only downfall is slow shipping because they are all custom made. Great reviews. Steering Wheel Mazda 3 and 6 MPS CX7 Sport Style Flat Bottom | eBay

Or order the CS wheel which looks better, feels awesome, and supports a vendor who continues to make parts for our "dead" platform.

You clearly haven't even searched if you have to ask the stupid question of if anyone has purchased the genpu wheel from CS...

I'm all for supporting vendors in our platform, and have a few CorkSport products in my car already.
Personally for me, just not a fan of the Gen 2 steering wheel designs, if their gen 1 designs fit a gen 2, I would gone for it already. Just personal choice in this one really.

Tapatalk sucks

Have no problem paying the money for a corksport product. So long as the feel of the wheel is good

NO thank you for thinking ahead enough to NOT start a new thread asking the same question?
He's brand new here, used the search button and still got hated on and told he's stupid for not knowing enough about a rare aftermarket steering wheel.
That's a weak way to bring new users here. Instead of hating, why not link a pic or thread and be helpful? We were all new at one point.

Thank you for actually giving some useful information. The auto exe wheel still looks nice, but I prefer the aggressiveness of the cs one.

Really good. Feels great, I chose mine so it would be black suade on top and bottom, black Alcanatara leather on sides and red stitching all around.

I have ordered the appropriate steering-wheel-refinishing supplies. Hopefully i get them soon enough to complete the project during the holiday break.

I'm also interested in one of the custom steering wheels from this EBay vendor.

My question is this, "are gen 1 Mazda 3, Mazda 6, gen 1 Mazdaspeed 3, Mazdaspeed 6, gen 1 Mazda 3 MPS, Mazda 6 MPS, RX7 or RX8 steering wheels compatible or interchangeable?

I'm asking because one of his listings shows a nice custom wheel and its listed as a Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 wheel. They look identical or compatible to me tho.

And one of his other listings with a similar wheel (same cruise control and radio buttons and same horn airbag center) is listed as only for the Mazda 6.

I'm confused.

Can someone with experience CONFIRM that the different wheels from the different models (3, mx5 6, rx7, rx8) do or don't fit the steering column from another model. Thank you.
