Have you taken into account where/when the vehicles have been driven (snow salt/sand) and whether they have the under tray. I have a GenJuan with not under tray, snow salt for three winters; I have light corrosion on the engine cover and surface rust on the rear suspension assembly.

It just seems like it shouldn't be so bad. Bolts/nuts rusted and all the corrosion. 2011 with only 40K miles. any advice on cleaning; would rather not have to change each bolt or have one break one day down the road when I'm changing something.

I live here in Germany but so does my brother in law with his Genjuan without the issue. Underside of my car is fine aside from exhaust bolts. Mostly centralized rusted bolts and corrosion to the engine bay. Under tray is in good working order. None of my other vehicles had the issue but both of the other genpus I looked at had it. One guy told me its because "its jdm" lol

Should put your tray back on...aside from the protective aspect, it's designed to help engine cooling by affecting where and how air flows through the bay.

Heat is a catalyst for oxidation, heat + oxygen = oxidation, therefore it rusts more easily and quickly. Light coats of oil/grease/wd40 on metal parts would prevent air contact and resist corrosion....

Edit: There's also things in your engine bay (fluids) that can cause some level of oxidation, if you've ever had a fluid leak that's probably not very useful for avoiding oxidation either.

Yeah after posting this I cleaned the entire engine bay and then went over it with wd40 and cleaned again.
