Help! Sonic Tuning Coilovers newest revision
 

Hey guys I've tried searching around but I can't find any solution for my problem. I have even looked at other coilover setups to see if they are the same but I still couldn't find anything specific to my problem. I just bought a lightly used set of Sonic Tuning coilovers that are black and silver, their newest revised coilovers that have 24-way adjustable damping. What I don't understand is how the rear springs go into the car with the supplied spring perch adjusters. It's just one solid piece that comes with a plate and a bolt. I have no clue how it attaches to the car because it doesn't seem to fit right either being on the bottom or at the top of the spring.

I have looked at how the adjuster sits on the control arm and how it sits from the top as well and neither way seems right. If someone could just explain this to me and let me know how it works that would be great. Thanks.

So I have installed the entire set on the car already but I took out the springs and perch adjusters because I thought it was wrong since the ride was a bit bouncy. The way I had the springs installed was with the adjusters on the control arm and the plate on the opposite side of the adjuster being held together tightly with that bolt. I felt like it was wrong after I took it for a test drive and the ride felt pretty bouncy and immediately took the springs out.

Help please!

I'm guessing it sits in the lower control arm and bolts in from underneath. Spring sits on top of the adjuster. Just like you had it.

Bounciness isn't as much a function of where that perch bolts but spring and damper rates. A bouncy ride is a spring too stiff for its associated shock. Unfortunately cheap coilovers don't often do a great job of matching these setups, and the actual adjustment doesn't often work as advertised. good luck with the setup but you may not have purchased what you were expecting.

Which is exactly how I tried installing it but it doesn't seem right. The outside edge of the adjuster sits ontop of the control arm hole's edge and slides around. It doesn't actually fit into the control arm as though it's supposed to. It's metal to metal contact that doesn't have an actual slot for it to slip into causing it to not move around. It's weird to me and it doesn't make sense. I think this is why the ride was bouncy when I first test drove it, and then immediately jacked it back up and took the springs out.

Really hoping for a confirmation that I'm missing a rubber mount that sits against the adjuster or something. I just don't understand.

Did you happen to go to sonic tuning's site and ask them this question?

I've called and am waiting for a call back but in the meantime just trying to ask anywhere I can.

Call up sonic tuning they are friendly and can probably help you if you are missing any parts of the CO system.

Spoke with Sonic Tuning and they said the way I had it was right. So nevermind lol

Spoke with Sonic Tuning and resolved my issue.
