Default 1st tune - pre tune questions

I'll direct this question to Lex but if anyone has some feed back I wouldn't mind the help.

I've completed engine mod's I plan on the speed since it's my daily driver and want to keep it safe and insure plenty of trouble free years of service, and I have other cars I can go wild on. Since this will be my first tune on a turbo car I'm wondering if there is any other mod's that would enhance or safeguard my current setup, prior to getting the Stratified tune.

2013 speed3 Current Setup:
Auto tech internals.
Corksport SRI w/TIP
ETS TMIC
UR cat less test pipe
Magnaflow CBE
V3 AP
1 step colder NGK's
Corksport OCC
Corksport RMM

Thanks Richard

A down pipe would be a good addition. And if you want to, could always look in to the Guardian Angel which protects you from over boosting.

Same question Any preference on brands? And I think you're right the GA might be a good safety feature, I want to protect my investment.

I currently have an Ultimate Racing catless DP and love it. I'll send you a link that may be very helpful when choosing what you want.

I wanted quality parts as well. The cobb is solid. Your gonna pay for quality. DP ran me over 7bills if i remember correctly.
Honestly tho there are good dps' out there for half of what the cobb will cost you.

Richard, your car is very nicely setup already. Before replacing the downpipe I would replace the intake with a 3" or larger. We've seen larger gains from the bigger intake than from the downpipe replacement if you already have a racepipe.

The biggest performance determining factor at this point is going to be your fuel. If you have E85 in your area it is well worth getting an E85 map as well. Otherwise high quality 93 will do. If it's just 91 and nothing else you will see great gains from a WMI system. The 92 I use from WA state is actually pretty good fuel to begin with if it's in your area as well.

Aside from this I would not do any more engine hardware changes until/if you replace the turbocharger as the returns on investment really diminish with the K04 still in there.

Fuel wise it seams pretty hard around this area to find any thing better then 92, I know there's a few places that carry the 93 but there just too far to depend on getting to on a regular basis, and E85 I can't seam to find at all.

Thanks for the info, I'll be checking out the 3" intakes. and ordering the tune as soon as I get that figured out.

Thanks Richard

I personally use the 92 from WA and it's quite decent. I've also tuned a number of people on that fuel and had the same experience so we should be good to go on the fuel front.

For the intake, it is not necessary to change to a bigger intake. I was simply giving that as a better alternative to the downpipe. The 3"+ intake is worth around 10-15hp.

I'm not sure if I'll get the bigger intake or not. it comes down to cost vs. reward.
I have the little devil on one side saying "get the intake and a down pipe go faster" and the angle on the other side saying "Its fun and fast enough and the wife will kill if you spend one more cent on the car" I guess we'll see which one wins.

I have a bad habit of going to far on the cars and bikes I own, and the wife is always on the look out for UPS or FedEx. LOL

All about the EBay downpipe. Most of terMINATOR runs them. Speed Daddy and M2, no problems at all.

With that, you'd be full bolt and a PMM wouldn't hurt either

It looks like there a several different "EBAY" downpipes which type are they using?
I need a cat'ed style.

Thanks Richard

I need a cat'ed style.

Thanks Richard
As far as I know, none of the "ebay" DPs have a cat, they would probably be shitty if they did anyways. Most ebay DPs seem to be a copy of the ATP DP, and the ATP does have a catted option. Cobb, corksport, and CPE also offer catted downpipes. CPE seems to be the least favored due to the cat being too close to the turbine, causing premature failure.
