(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Picking the tuner: I purchased both the E-tune and EBCV from Stratified. I decided to do so after talking to Alex on the phone one day, simply inquiring about their EBCV. Not only did he answer all my questions on the EBCV but also gave me some great advice on my now broken stock EBCV (broke during intake install). He easily explained to me exactly what the EBCV does and how it affects boost control. All stuff I thought I sort of understood but quickly realized I was wrong. It was clear then and now even more so that Alex knows this platform, in and out. He also is very kind and although a lot of my questions then and even moving through the tune were dumb, he always took the time to answer or even teach me. The Tune: Alex was actually nice enough to meet me in person for the tune. This ending up being a great thing for me because I got to see the process first hand and it also eliminated the need to find flat, clear roads where I live (downtown Seattle). I drove up to meet him on a Saturday. Just like on the phone, he was a stand-up guy. We bullshitted for a good 30 mins just about the platform and even his ford focus ST before getting started. We got all set up and did my first pull. Well turns out I’m a dumbass (seems like a pattern) and filled up in Vancouver. He mentioned how shitty the gas was there but totally forgot about it and waited until I got over the boarder to fill. I was showing heavy knock even before he touched it. I figured I would need to come back another time, but nope Alex came up with a plan. He hooked me up with a gallon of E-85 out of his own stash to help with the bad gas. After the good gas was in, I started to make “runs”. Each time he adjusted it little by little. Each run I noticed a little improvement little by little. Throughout the whole process, Alex easily explained what he was doing and why. It was clear to me there was no guess work. The final map came after about 5-6 passes and the car truly felt the best then. I’m back home now and the car now not only pulls like a mad man all the way to redline, but the low end has improved greatly also. Driving around town, the car runs 100% better than when I was on the Cobb OTS. Moving forward: I am so pleased with the E-tune that I received; I am already looking ahead for an e-85 tune with Alex. I don’t trust a lot of people with my car, hell I don’t even let me girlfriend drive it but I trust Alex and Stratified. I would say this mod was easily the best bang for the buck I have done to date and would encourage anyone on the fence about it, to pull the trigger. You will not be sorry.
