Expression & Impression After Stratification 7 Attachment(s) Expression after Stratification: http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...1&d=1382532972 Hey guys, Everyone already knows Lex's tunes are great, but I want to contribute in spreading the word and give a noob's (me) point of view. Impression: When I first installed the Stratified Stage 1 OTS map I was completely convinced getting a costum tune from Stratified was going to be a great tune, and Lex hasn't disappointed me. Similar to the S-OTS maps I was running, I drives so damn smooth. And now of course it pulls even stronger. I'm loving it. Spinning through 4th gear when it's raining (I have good Michelin winter tyres) really surprised me, and shows the power this car has with this tune. The blue line in the VD graph I attached is from a S-OTS Stage 2 map from the review I made about the Stage 1 and Stage 2 in this thread: http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...ts-map-147318/ http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...1&d=1382532972 Red: Custom tune Blue: S-OTS 93 octane map I also added a graph below with the VD's of the stock tune vs S-OTS Stage 1 vs S-OTS Stage 2 vs custom tune for shits and gigs. http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...1&d=1382484735 Attachment 133996 Attachment 133997 Attachment 133998 Attachment 133999 If I compare how this car drives with how it did stock, it's just a world of difference. Most obviously the added 53 hp really transformed this car, but also the smoothness and just overall driveability is improved a lot. I already explained this in the review I linked above in more detail, so I won't go over it again. Plus, when getting a custom tune, you can ask Lex for little adjustments in driveability if you want to, so it can really be adjusted for your needs and driving style. Which of course kicks ass. I find it hard to believe my car could be driving any smoother or more powerful while still keeping it nice and safe. I also told this to Lex, I'm really happy I went this route, instead of getting a Hypertech or letting some local tuning guy tune my car. Not only because it now has been tuned by someone who's really specialized in this car and is very active and respected in the MSF community, but also because this has been (and still is) a great learning experience for me. It's been said before but I'll say it again. Stratified=Satisfied. Simple as that. If you don't agree, fuck your couch. Lex is (and I'm sure Mike is too) really a professional and very nice to work with. Thanks for the great tune Lex, and all the patient and clear explanations, you're the man :bigok: FOR THE NOOBS If your doubting about getting a custom tune, or tuning your Speed at all, because you don't know jack shit about KR, AFR, LTFT and stuff like that, don't worry. I personally didn't even know what a COBB Accessport was a year ago. You don't have to learn a lot about stuff like KR, Lex explaines everything very clearly and is very patient and professional, so even a noob like me had no trouble getting this custom tune done. Just pull the trigger, you won't regret it. The grin will keep appearing every single time you pull the shit out of people. Peace, R |
Great review! I was going to ask you what mods you had, but I see them in your signature. Thanks for posting! |
Thanks for the excellent review Raymond! Really happy you like the tune and enjoyed the experience. |

If anyone has any questions, please ask them, I'm more than happy to answer them. |
Nice to see this! Especially since i JUST ordered a Stratified tune!! :D @Lex; i'm eager to get started :D |
OP, it would be great if you could post ambient temps or intake temps or something that would normalize all of the runs you used for your before/afters. I could show a 20HP difference just comparing two runs between AM and PM on the same day. No doubt that Lex/Stratified is amazing, it's just hard to judge based on VD graphs w/o reference or logs. Also, ROFL @ stock AFRs. |
@dale_gribble; No problem, I've updated OP and added the logs. Somehow I completely forgot to add them, sorry. I made sure the ambient temps were about the same when taking runs for these logs, knowing how dramatic ambient temps affect the power the car produces, thanks for pointing out the missing logs. Edit: The stock tune AFR's made me rofl as well, also the well known power drop at 5.5k RPM :) If you compare the stock power curve to that sexy custom tune power curve it's just hilarious. |
Sry for the rivive guys, just wanted to tell this, so long term experiences are also clear, that after almost a year and a half getting the costum done..... well what can I say? I just have to say I still love the awesome fucking tune from @Lex; The acceleration is something I got used to pretty soon, which is normal ofc, but it still consistently keeps on putting that smurk on my face to just straight out laughter when kicking A LOT of asses here. Nobody expecting it (sleeper style) just adds to that. Even got chased by "some guys" and it was funny as hell seeing them not standing a chance. So the JBR+Straitified combo is safer too, just saying ;) I truly have to say I still just love the car, not even did anything else to it in the meanwhile. The car itself, but really after being Stratified is a fucking joy. Combined with the excellent parts from @jbarone; it's just a pretty cheap but very good route to go in my experience so far. Drive in a slower (more normal car) for a week or whatever, you'll feel that kick in the back like the first time again :) The car itself has taken a lot of beatings (never my fault FML) and so far just took the blows and kept on going strong. That under appreciated crazy ass Japanese rocket, along with the added tune and parts, never dissapointed me. Tuned at 30k KM. now at 100k KM. Riding hard but always monitoring and taking good care of it, never any prblems at all, and like I said not being driven slowly. Not track racing or anything either to be clear. And the amount of morons looking like a fucking little kid at my gauges, but then looking like an deer staring at headlights when I begin about a silicone TIP, or just what a turbo does in general is just making me ROFL every single time. Also when they're holding on to that "o shit handle", or even also the dashboard, like their lives depend on it gave me many tears of joy and reduced a lot of need for crunches. Hysterical lol omg So pretty much thanks to all the guys who deliver these quality products, the MSF community for their tips and myself for buying this car haha. No seriously, tnx Now let me get my arm outta here, elbow-deep, damn ;) All the best, R PS. I guess I'm a brownie now. Not sure if I should give a f |
Seriously! Thank You For This. Good Stuff! |
