Default Guardian Angel BPC compatibility.

I just found out that my HKS SSQ is not compatible with the Guardian Angel. I am looking for the best performing BPV for a BNR Stage 3 setup. The Forge BPV seems to be the only compatible one for sure. I need to know what else is compatible so the I can place my order at edgeautosports asap for my upcoming Turbo Build this saturday.

Please Help!!

the forge should do you just fine, i think any "push" type blow off valve/bypass valve will work, just not a pull type like the HKS, worse comes to worse just instalall of your parts except your gaurdian angel until your new valve comes in, then instal it

My forge works great with the bnr. Blue + 2 shims. Not sure about it's compatibility with GA although it should work fine as a Push type valve like Hamilton said.

I like the bone stock looks of the Forge but I am also looking at the Cobb and the Turbosmart ones as well. I sent Lex a message already but he is a busy guy.

Just swap someone for a forge and be done with it if you want everything installed at once . Either the v1 or v2. Both hold boost well and differ in sound. I'm running the v2 with my GA right now and it's perfect. You installing at nator?

You could always ask someone with other push type valves to check for you too by using the test method in the install PDF

Unfortunately the NATOR day is the same day that I had planned on doing my turbo build with RamiLP. We are going to start the install at the buttcrack of dawn because we will be doing the following installs all at once:

BNR Stage III
CS Boost Tubes
CS SRI & TIP Stage 2
JBR Stage II Oil Catch Can
JBR Thermal Insulating Gaskets
Possibly a TS, Cobb, or Forge BPV
Guardian Angel EBC
3 Bar MAP Sensor
Injector Studs and Seals
Grimspeed EBCS

Well it will either be a success or an epic fail. I am actually bribing RamiLP (who used to be a real mechanic) so I expect a higher level of success than the typically boozed up auto weekend mechanic.

I just went with the Toyota Seals.

I am sure there will be a build thread posted by this time next week.

Sorry for all the confusion. The GA works with ANY PUSH type BPV or BOV. These valves are designed so that boost PUSHES against the valve piston trying to open it. The piston is therefore facing the charge piping.

See the picture attached.

So is there a list of BOV/BPV that is not a Push Type variety?

I am glad I did some research today because the VTA Mod for the GA is going is probably going to make a lot of people happy.

The HKS is the one that is the most common. Synapse might be as well but I have not tested that particular valve while I have tested the HKS and it is not compatible.

I see you are going BT.

Did you buy all of the support equipment that you will need? I have been selling and purchasing stuff for weeks to get ready for this weekend. I just hope the delivery guys don't fail me.

Woah man! We have done like 6 BT at Nator without any problems. We ain't REAL mechanics too.

But whatever works for you.

And as for 3 bar MAP you need if you want to be able to log above 22.xx psi.

I wasn't talking about the NATOR folks, I was referring to my local talent that has helped me keep my 00 Protege alive for 12 years .

Hmm, I don't think it would be right to impose a BT build on the SoCal Nator crew at the last second. Do you think they would have the time?

If I don't hear back from my motorcycle mechanic, I might have time to redo my brakes, brake lines, and instal my CS Tip & SRI at the upcoming NATOR.

The synapse bpv should work with it as it can be used in push or pull configurations, all you have to do is swap the adapters around. But this is hypothetical not tested.

I emailed Forge asking about their V2 valve and confirmed it is a pull type valve; part of the redesign in order to change the sound of the pressure release. What confuses me is your success with the GA with the v2 valve @Zbrit00x

Though it was a push style since the spring pressure is keeping the valve closed while the pressure on the valve and vacuum assisting it is pushing the valve open. Maybe @Lex can shed some light on this. Regardless it is working flawlessly for me.

I don't have drawings or a Forge V2 to take a look at how it functions. That being said the proof is in the pudding. If Zayn has tested the GA with that BPV and it works ... it works.

Another test you can perform is to pull the vacuum line from the back of the valve and see if will hold boost. If it leaks under boost and won't hold boost, it will work with the GA.

@Zbrit00x, what does your boost pressure drop to when the GA activates?

I just found a picture of the Forge V2 taken apart.

It should work fine with the GA. This is not a true pull type BPV as the piston is not held closed by boost like it is on the HKS.
