Looks like the KR you have is very mild. It would help if you logged all the parameters below. However with 91 octane in some areas you might get a touch of knock. It's not serious, so bumping octane a tiny bit or improving cooling (I notice some high BATs) will take care of it completely. As will a custom tune for your car of course.

Accel. Pedal Pos.
Actual AFR
Boost
Boosted Air Temp
Calculated Load
Coolant Temp
Engine Speed (RPM)
HPFP Actual Pressure
Injector Duty Cycle
Intake Temp
Intake Valve Adv.
Knock Retard
Long Term FT (LTFT)
MAF Voltage
Mass Airflow
Spark Advance
Throttle Position
Vehicle Speed
Wastegate Duty Cycle

ok, my dumb ass was finally able to find the info i needed.
basically, i will have to do a 3rd gear pull from about 3k.
and i will also do a 4th gear pull doing the same thing.
almost like being on a dyno.

i will post them up when i get a chance to do some logs. hopefully everything will be fine, but i have a feeling that this tune might be in the danger zone for my car.
if so, looks like i will be hitting you guys up for one of your stratified tunes.
i just wanted to give this local shop a try since they've done a couple of other ms3's as well.

Correct, stomp on it right at 3k RPM and carry it to redline. If you're uncertain about the tune ease into it before doing a full log and keep an eye on vitals such as fuel pressure, overboost, knock.

Log the following parameters:

Accel. Pedal Pos.
Actual AFR
Boost
Boosted Air Temp
Calculated Load
Coolant Temp
Engine Speed (RPM)
HPFP Actual Pressure
Injector Duty Cycle
Intake Temp
Intake Valve Adv.
Knock Retard
Long Term FT (LTFT)
MAF Voltage
Mass Airflow
Spark Advance
Throttle Position
Vehicle Speed
Wastegate Duty Cycle

Ok, I don't have microsoft excell. So I'm using google my drive's spread sheet format. Unfortunately, it will not let me link in the "manage attachements" option in our post configuration. So I'm just going to link it and hope for the best that you can view them. Sorry for any inconvenience.

That tune definitely needs work. It is not optimized for your car and shows a good amount of consistent KR.

i was surprised with how much i gained from it. i was orignally on cobb st2 ots map making 312whp 325wtq. on this map i am making 347whp and 374wtq. but as you stated, i do see consistant kr.
i really want to help this guy and his shop out because he is passionate about tuning cars. he has been tuning for 10 years and has tuned some impressive vehicles used for things such as pro drifting and breaking land speed records.
he admits he is not savy with our platform be has been learning through his experiences with some of the other locals.
is there anything you could suggest he can do to help clean up this tune and make it more safe for everyday use? i myself get totally lost in all of this, so i can not offer any advice to him.

i really appreciate you taking the time to look over my datalogs. i am more than likely going to order a tune from you anyways just so i can have a good reliable tune to use.
but it would be nice to have a shop to drive to so they can actually feel the way the car drives and listen to how it runs in order to diagnose any issues.

With all due respect, I have spent countless hours improving my tuning and practices to provide these services for my clients and not other shops. If he is a capable individual, with enough studying and testing he too will improve his tuning of this platform.

I can understand wanting to help the local guy out, but do yourself a favor and let Lex tune yours. Your car will perform better while giving you piece of mind.

Could be AP dyno numbers. They are always inflated.

Are you using virtual dyno or something else to get your numbers?

i did not mean to insult anybody and i apologize if i have. i just wanted to help the guy out in case his tune is in danger of damaging, or even worse, causing engine failure.
it is one thing if his tunes are not giving the full performance potential, but it is another thing if he is handing out ticking time bombs because he is still learning about our fickle platform.

it was not the ots map that made those numbers.
my ots map gave me 312whp 325 wtq.
his tune gave me 347whp 374wtq.
it was dyno tuned as i sat there and watched him.
btw, please fully read my post, as i have previously stated this, before you groan me.

even though i am on a tune from a different person, i still wanted lex's input on it. because i know he knows his stuff when providing a safe reliable tune that also gives good performance.
i would like for lex or one of his associates to etune my car as well.
1. so i know i have a good, safe, reliable tune. 2. it would be nice to compare ots cobb vs the tune i am running now vs stratisfied.
and now that i know i can datalog on my way to the gym, i feel more confident with getting an etune without worring about having the time to provide the information needed to get my tune right.

once again, thank you for spending the time to look this over and answer my questions.

sorry, just one more question.

i'm obviously still running my stock k04. would it be necessary to buy the 3 port ebc, or can that wait till i go big turbo down the road.
i know you have a package deal that if i get a tune and the ebc, it knocks $10 off.

thanks again

it is one thing if his tunes are not giving the full performance potential, but it is another thing if he is handing out ticking time bombs because he is still learning about our fickle platform.

it was not the ots map that made those numbers.
my ots map gave me 312whp 325 wtq.
his tune gave me 347whp 374wtq.
it was dyno tuned as i sat there and watched him.
btw, please fully read my post, as i have previously stated this, before you groan me.

even though i am on a tune from a different person, i still wanted lex's input on it. because i know he knows his stuff when providing a safe reliable tune that also gives good performance.
i would like for lex or one of his associates to etune my car as well.
1. so i know i have a good, safe, reliable tune. 2. it would be nice to compare ots cobb vs the tune i am running now vs stratisfied.
and now that i know i can datalog on my way to the gym, i feel more confident with getting an etune without worring about having the time to provide the information needed to get my tune right.

once again, thank you for spending the time to look this over and answer my questions.
i apologize, i thought you were just talking out of your ass for a minute. Groan removed. i figured you were saying you made 347 on 93 on an OTS map lmfao im sure you were running e85, am i correct? also, it is very rare to see over 330 on a k04 even with e85, which led me to think bullshit lol

With a K04 you are able to run about 1psi more boost in the top end with the 3 port. However unless you have E85 you will reach the knock threshold long before you can make use of the extra 1psi. Turbo longevity also suffers.

However the 3 port (or boost dial) are an important piece of a successful BT install as you know so it is entirely up to you and your goals on the K04 if you get it now or later.

Still, 312/325 is not believable from an OTS tune. It would be a record... or am I reading this wrong.

This tuner stuck your car on the dyno before he started tuning it... you had a Cobb OTS stage 2 map, and the dyno spat out 312whp/325wtq?

edited: because I think I must have missed something, lol

thank you lex. i will just go ahead and grab that with the tune when i order. since i know i am eventually going bt when my stocker finally gives out.

and what my tuner did was put the car on the dyno. then dynoed and datalogged the car with the cobb stg2 ots map to get a baseline and see where my car was at.
after that, he made some adjustments and dynoed again. repeat and rinse till i got the final tune that i am currently running.
maybe his dyno was feeling a little nice and inflated my numbers, or maybe that is what i am putting down. for all i know i could be only putting down 320whp.
all i know is my car feels a lot stronger now.
unfortunately, as pointed out, it is not entirely a safe tune. so that is why i will be going to way of lex and his crew.
