Default Product Release: Mazda 3 Port EBCV/EBCS






This is a 3 port boost control valve that is plug and play with the OEM harness and comes with some nice as well as some unique features compared to what's already out there:

To name a few:

- It plugs into the OEM harness. No splicing of wires, not CELs
- It allows you to control boost in both 3 port and 2 port modes.
- Allows for faster spool, better response, and improved boost control when tuned.
- Allows boost control on all turbochargers including bigger turbos and OEM.
- Fully compatible with COBB AP, VersaTuner.
- Attaches cleanly to the engine bay in seconds without drilling, cutting, messy brackets.
- Includes reusable hose clamps that can be removed and installed without tools.

- The wiring harness is 18" long and braided for durability and mounting versatility.
- 1/4" diameter barbs that are automotive grade match those on most turbochargers.
- Bracket free, solid mounting solution. No more drilling holes in the engine bay!

Do you have a good picture of the pneumatic diagram on the solenoid @Lex;? I'm guessing you don't really need to cap port 3 in bleed mode, just like it's not needed with the MAC solenoids sold under the COBB and GrimmSpeed brand names. Not that it hurts to block it off anyways.

You actually do need to cap port 3 in this one as well as COBB and the GS solenoids.

When not actuated P2 and P3 are connected. P1 is blocked.
When actuated P1 and P2 are connected. P3 is blocked.

If you leave P3 uncapped you will be drawing in unmetered air via the TIP.

I have never capped port 3 on my GS EBCS and I have no leaks.

I posted this in Dustin's EBCS + MBC thread:

The MAC three-port solenoid that is used in the COBB and GS EBCS has check valves, and couldn't care less about the boost source being under vacuum.

Solenoids have pneumatic symbols on them that outline how the valve functions. For example, the MAC solenoid diagram is shown here:



If you look up how to read the diagram, you'll see something like this:



So, you can see that the MAC 3-port solenoid is NOT actuated, airflow is allowed from port 2 to port 3 (in that direction ONLY), and port 1 is blocked. When the solenoid is actuated, airflow is allowed from port 1 to port 2 ONLY, and port 3 is blocked.

This means that if you run the EBCS in 2-port mode, with port 1 going to boost source and port 2 going to inlet (bleed), if the boost source is under more vacuum than the inlet there will be no airflow.

P.S. also, you will notice that in 2-port mode you don't need to block port 3, as the inlet will always be under vacuum with respect to ambient pressure when the engine is running, so there will never be airflow into the intake when the solenoid isn't energized. If port 3 isn't capped, though, it will show up as a 'leak' when doing a boost test.

@Lex; I noticed in the engine bay pic that the nipples seem to be brass and in the second pic they are black. Can you confirm if these are plastic like the OEM or are they metal like the COBB's/Grimmspeed.

They are black nylon to be exact which is excellent in this environment. Metal in this case adds weight is harder to seal. That picture is one of the prototype units.

Yes much more so. The OEM nipples are a hard plastic that easily snaps. Black nylon is quite flexible so they don't snap or crack like the OEM when they are tugged on.

@silvapain; here's the diagram for the valve. I as you, thought the same. However I can tell you that the cap is needed on this one. I literally blew and sucked through them to verify. I have not done the same on the MAC solenoids however.

Still working on bundling these together with the tunes on the store - it's not playing nice. If you want these with a tune just PM me and I will send an invoice that includes the discount until I update the store.

3 Port setups do a have a $25 tuning fee IF they are in 3 port mode. This extends tuning by a week as well so overall it's not a bad deal.

Except for the clips what is the actual difference between the offered solenoid and GS or Cobb products?
Do all these work well?

Aside from the clips, mounting solution, barbs, and offering a threaded plug for 2 port operation here are some other differences:

- Braided loom for protection and appearance
- The valve is not a MAC valve that those other guys use. It actually offers a more linear response with better resolution especially past 70%wgdc in 3 port where other valves make boost control erratic.

No CELs and it plugs right in just like the other valves.

The restrictor is either the oem pill or the adjustable boost dial.

Although a little bit more challenging than using a boost dial, a full LOAD based tune with tapered boost curve can be done using the 3Port EBCV alone. Here's the WGDC and boost curve of a 2-3-4 pull of a BNR S3 we are tuning purely load tuned with a 3 port (interrupt) setup. Note that not all cars respond the same and boost setups that tend to oscillate are much better off being tuned using the Boost Dial.
