Stratified Tune List

Even before looking for a list, check out some of our Tuning Results! We strive for excellence in terms of performance, reliability, and driveability.

Oh yeah, the list, we don't have one - So here's how it works:

Since there is no LIST, there is no waiting to get tuned. You follow the steps here (http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...d-tune-120646/).

Simple as that. If the tunes sell out for a particular week, more tuning slots become available the next week on our website (Mazda DISI Tuning : Stratified Automotive Controls).

Want to know what our customers have been saying? Read the reviews!

I am getting my car back on the road today after getting a wheel repaired. I added the Corksport RP and Magnaflow 3" CBE. I will run logs on the latest tune you sent me. Looks like I may need to buy some extra time to make sure we take this to the end. The tuning process has been great so far, thanks. I have a few comments as I am going through this process with you:

1. I would like to know more specific details about what changes you made to the tune during each iteration. There were a few iterations where I compared a bunch of tables in ATR and couldn't see what you changed and without someway to diff compare the tuning files I had no idea what changed. It would be cool to get 'release notes' for each change. I understand you have your special sauce and I don't want proprietary knowledge of why you tune, I just want to have an idea what you changed so I can follow along as I try to learn how I can tune my car following a pros example. I got a few 'try this' tune updates and I wasn't sure what to expect.

2. I wouldn't mind a tune completion status estimate; for example, you probably have a pretty good idea on where my car is throughout the tuning process. There was a while when I didn't know if we were in the beginning, middle or nearing the end of the tune process. We are at 1.6 now and I think we are nearing the end? I am not sure. For example, after you get customer logs from your first 1.0 tune, you probably have a ballpark idea of where the car is. At that point, maybe the tune is 70% complete and then the other 30% is optimization tweaks. Or maybe you have stages, i.e. Stage 1 is baselining your first custom tune, Stage 2 is optimizing boost/timing/wastegate and Stage 3 is optimizing timing. Perhaps there is some way to convey where the car is in the tuning process. This is just a customer expectation thing.

Each new tune is like Christmas Day and I appreciate that you have been right on schedule and gave thoughtful answers to my questions.

Thanks for posting such a detailed writeup.

1. If you want clarification on what each revision addresses I can do a more detailed explanation. In your case we ran into some hardware issues but mostly I was trying to adjust boost and timing to find that fine balance between the two that is so important on the California gas.

2. The completion status estimate is a little tougher. Of course the baseline tells me where the car sits but just how long it takes to get it fine tuned is dependent on many variables and is very much vehicle specific. I don't let a car go that hasn't met my high expectations for performance and safety.

I strive to add new slots every week so we should have something for you when you're ready!

randino69 09-28-2012 10:29 AM

Alex,

I have thought a lot about an additional add an to the system. I want to grab and install the Devils Own Meth kit to the car. Probably best to wait until I buy and install that? What do you think? I want to help the car, not hurt it, so hopefully the 50-50 mix on the Meth is going to be a great thing.

Let me know your thoughts, and we can build around it. If it was only like $50 to retune based on the meth being added later, I am down to pay for the tune now without. Probably a stupid question, but I am always wanting to learn more about this car.

I seem to be running quite rich right now on my stage 2 OTS tune for sure.

Randy

Adding WMI is a great knock deterrent so I do recommend it since it allows for a cooler charge and for more timing. So we can proceed as you like - we can start the tune now and then do a $50 top up for WMI or just do a tune using WMI alone.

Also don't be afraid of running rich. In DI applications running rich cools the combustion charge increasing volumetric efficiency and increasing knock resistance. It's not like the old port injected days so running rich is not something to be afraid of but of course tuning it properly is key.

randino69 09-28-2012 11:40 AM

Then, let's get started my good man! I am ready! Who knows on the actual date for the WMI, so I am all for getting started ASAP!

Thanks Alex!

I am all paid and ready to rock and roll! I have current datalogs from yesterday ready to go as well. You see all my mods on my signature. I have no idea how to do any of this, so thanks for leading me by the hand bro.

Randy

I do NOT have the EBCS, or the Guardian installed at this time. Figured they can wait.... Is that information incorrect?

I get asked about this in PMs ... no list, no wait, tunes available right now:

Just made a long overdue results page from customer dyno graphs. This is a small sample of Stratified tunes and it will be updated as people send in graphs. Only actual dynamometer graphs, no VD dynos on this page.

Back from holidays! Ready for some winter tunes :)

Got it thank you! You will have an e-mail your way shortly.

dale_gribble 12-28-2012 10:42 AM

Thanks for the work Lex. You are a friggen wizard. That last iteration you gave me got the AFRs dialed with no VVT timing disruption and my power is back to normal. Car is running superbly. SUPERB!

I posted something of interest in another thread. If you recall, I always do 3-4 pulls back to back on a stretch of road for datalogging. I found out that the KR spikes I always saw between 4,500-5,500 on the northbound pulls (usually even numbers in the logs I sent you) was due to road noise. I wish I figured that out sooner. I could never figure out why the pulls in 1 direction were cleaner then the other; I always chalked it up to heat soak. This probably screwed the tuning process up a bit.

Anyways, thanks again.

Hey @Lex; I've got all the parts (necessary) for my BT build http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...t2871r-139264/

When I install everything I'd like to have it driveable without causing too much danger to the motor. Is there a base map that I can get before hand or should I be good as long as I drive nicely?

dooderek 03-26-2013 07:54 AM

put me on the list

You definitely want a base map. I will PM you some information.

Summer is around the corner and tuning slots are filling up quickly. If for some reason you see these sold out on our site (or any product for that matter) just drop me a line with an e-mail contact and I will contact you as soon as it becomes available. We do our best to keep wait times at 0 but in order to ensure quality; tunes may need to be staggered a little. The goal is to keep wait times between 0 and 1 week. PM directly or through the site if anything is sold out.

Thank you!

JgamB 05-18-2013 02:34 PM

All my pieces n parts will be here within the week. :arms:

I noticed you suggested 1-step colder plugs, but read a lot of conflicting information on the site regarding their necessity and longevity. I plan to hit you up for both 93oct and 25% E85 maps, and wanted to be sure replacing the plugs was a good proactive move with just OTS maps until we get me on your list.

So should I install the NGKs with the internals and test pipe? Or wait until we start the e-tune?

I recommend you swap plugs once the oem ones wear out with those modifications. It is important to have the plugs gapped between 0.026 and 0 028".

I still get questions about a tuning waiting list.

There isn't one. As long as tunes are not sold out on our site, they are available:

Bumping this thread for information regarding the tuning list. We don't have a list, you just sign up on our site when you're ready:
