Corksport SRI/TIP

Fitment is great and quality is great. For the price you cant beat it.

I will remeasure the MAF dimensions I had before and post them up.

I had the CP for like 5k miles and car started acting up. put the K&N SRI on there and solved all the problems. great feel, quality product and ive never been a K&N fan but it definately is a great product. would never buy it new though way tooo over priced.

I have the similar feelings about the K&N Typhoon. I've had it on the car for about a week. Great quality, great sound, would never buy it new because of the price.

I think its the fact it doesn't have the wire mesh that makes the filter crappy.

I've seen a bunch of cars with cpe intakes and all seem fine.

Im gonna start to take pics to show you guys what I mean.

Oiled filters do perform better then dry, but oiled has a little more upkeep to it because you should reoil it every 10 to 15k miles

^ Didn't know that.

I've got the k&n sri, oiled it when I put it on. Have had it on for about 1.5k miles, no code yet. We will see though when it starts to get colder out. Lowest temps I've seen so far have been 50-ish.

I wish it would get warmer out, because when I shift from 1st to 2nd WOT with the dsc off, my tires just chirp perpetually in 2nd until I let off the gas. I desperately want CP-E to release their engine mounts because this kind of tire hop is just ridiculous. It's probably down to the weather though, but this has happened twice in 50-60 degree weather. I checked the RMM and it's bolted down tightly (cp-e 75 duro), so I dunno.

So I guess I should update - I had the K&N on for ~7k miles without a problem. fuel trims stayed fine. I eventually swapped it out for a CP-e CAI just because I wanted to see lower IATs (using a TMIC), and I got a great deal on it. The K&N is great though, but for the price you can get a used intake and a TIP so there's that.

I didn't install a TIP until after the downpipe. Made a noticeable difference, which is weird. I guess the TIP does become a bottle neck at some point, though probably not until you're almost fully bolted.

Got the JBarone side mounts instead of the CP-e mounts. SU mounts look to be a little bit cheaper still and people love those as well. JBarone mounts replace the bottom portion on the transmission mount, while others replace just the plate (... I think... don't remember fully CP-e's design)

Honestly, if I was getting an intake for the first time, I'd just get whatever came up used unless you have your heart set on a SRI or a CAI.

Or, if you're planning on getting an accessport, I wouldn't even bother with one of the name brand intakes - just get a section of 3" MAF housing:

3" MAF Housing - Billet Aluminum-for DENSO Element

And a 3" filter. I don't know a whole lot about filters so I won't express a preference for one or the other, but I'd invest in a high quality filter FWIW.

Get some "mounting hardware" from lowes/home depot, and you've got an intake for less than $200. You're also going to need a coupler to reduce it down to the stock TIP, I forget what diameter it is though.

Also, I'm sure you can find the MAF housing for cheaper than $90, it was just the first thing that came up.

I've got the CorkSport SRI/TIP and I love it. Absolutely no CEL's or mechanical issues for about 2k miles. Install would have been hard if I didn't my grease monkey friend. But I don't think it would be any different for the rest of the SRI's. The only issue I'm having is my TurboSmart BOV is rubbing a tiny bit on the silicone part of the filter. I've tried a lot of adjusting of the silicone pieces, but nothing seems to work.

2010Speed3,

Does it damage either part? I'm wanting this same setup with the bov/sri and had heard they don't fit well together.

Actually, neither has any damage. The silicone takes it like a champ... I didn't really do much adjusting of the "L" shaped silicone cause I didn't wanna mess with it, but I'm pretty sure you could get it to not touch.
Off topic: I actually need some extra money right now, so I'm considering selling the BOV. PM me if you're interested, I can give you all the details.

I've had the Cobb Tuning SRI and TIP installed for about 9k miles now and no CEL's or anything.. My only complaint is Cobb's bracket broke the spotweld to the battery box. One of these years I need to find someone with a welder to fix it, but other than that it's great..

Intakes are easy to remove and reinstall for dealer trips. If you are too lazy to do that, some dealerships will warranty a Mazdaspeed intake if you pay to have the dealership install it. Check with them if you're interested.

MazdaSpeed intakes suck!!! Made by AEM and the MAF diameters are off from the stock MAF housing and will throw out your fuel trims which will cause over fueling and increase fuel consumption decreasing oil viscosity! Stay away from AEM and MazdaSPeed unless you plan on using a Acessport for the right intake calibration.

go to this thread to see what a MazdaSpeed CAI will do to your oil, this is my oil analysis!
dealer installed CAI dealer removed CAI 100% refund no questions asked, this part sucks ass!!

2010 Oil Analysis

talk to CP-E and Corksport they will tell you same thing about over fueling issue with this intake!

If ur car has more than a few miles on it, unfortunately (I guess it depends on the dealer), but There is a very good chance It has seen that red line quite a few times. My buddy works for a Mazda dealership...did I say dealership, sorry I mean stealership... And they beat those new cars to shit!

Again, I am sure there are a few stealerships where this doesn't happen..

Guys at Edge Autosport (unofficially) say the Cobb SRI is the best for otherwise non-mod'd engines.

Subsequently the one I was looking at buying, both for the price and the fact that Cobb are the tuning gods. Good to know. I think I've convinced myself. I have a turbocharged vehicle, and damnit, I want everyone to know and I want to hear the damn thing. If it blows up, I drive a 1999 Civic. Haha.

I really shouldn't post this late. This is probably horrendous.

LOL! I had a choice of buying a 2010 w/140 miles however I decided to buy the '11 with 3 miles. It was about a $1200 difference in price. Only God knows what happened with the 140 miles on the '10. Not only do you have to worry about the dealership but what about the young ones test driving. My buddies and I were notorious for weekend test drives when I was 18....

Anyways, I was really leaning towards the K&N because of the dyno numbers, but now I'm quite interested in SURE's product after reading these posts. Any dyno #'s out on this yet?

I just instaled Sure Areos SRI and it seems to be very nice. I really can't compare it with other SRIs but this one seems to be great. It was bitch to install cause today was < 40 F, so hoses were really stiff, but overall it's great product nice sound and hopefully no CELs anytime soon :].
