(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score to those who want a real update and not me talking to my roommate(disclaimer..we're both straight)... last weekend myself and he who was groaned^ finished up my meth.. first revision on that made 475/442 (VD) on 26 tapering to 28 and 15*. Feels great, engine itself out of boost feels very strong and responsive. The only problem I have at all is 5th gear. only goes into 5th maybe 1 out of 10 times. After reading it seems like a shift fork pad... but what is strange it didn't do this at all before the engine/trans were pulled.

| Not Ranked : 0 score SpeedRebirth can eat me. I've done more than my fair share of work on this engine, just found the thread. sup fgts i've physically tried to engage the gear from the trans, syncho appears to be sheared. the locking collar is sliding over the synchro, however never makes it to the gear. it's like hitting a wall. we'll pull it soon and check out the damage. (Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yupp, have the old out right now. Stuck in 6th gear.. bent/broken shift fork is my guess. other than that, had some spark blow out.. got some new plugs and i went to the itv24s. gonna get the coilovers put on since we have the front suspension out anyway... been procrastinating that forever. should be in the best form it's been in once this is all done.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Keep an eye on those ITV24s. Mine fouled in very short order. Started with occasional stumble/miss at WOT and then cutout got really bad. I think there's a reason nobody runs 2 step cooler plugs on these engines.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Glad you figured this out, she looks good and I love the wheels. Quick question, If you had decided to stay the BNR route and build the bottom end would you have still done head work such as valve springs? I plan on going BNR s4 and shooting for 425ish hp and am unclear if ill need valve springs or not.

| Not Ranked : 0 score derail warning... Do our springs/valves even float in stock rev range? (I am not disagreeing with you, in fact I totally agree to stay away from the springs, just curious) Given all the problems our platform has already with VVT; putting more strain on the valve train would seem to be that last thing I would want to do. OP pinned/keyed his crank/cam so doing so would likely not be an issue for him.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Exactly what I had thought but wanted to make sure. Guy at work who is very knowledgeable about cars (not our platform) kept telling me I'll need valve springs. I tried explaining to him how with stiffer springs it would wear on our vvt and stretch the chain but he was persistent on saying I needed them. Just had to make sure. Thank you.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hello nearly a year later, this car is gonna be back sooner than later.... for those that don't know.. i spun a rod bearing. just one more addition to the saga. tearing down shortly. hopefully it won't be that serious. gonna make some changes to the set up though. when I'm decisive on said changes, i will post some updates. If someone can verify this theory even a little, it would be appreciated... Does any experienced person on here think that me NOT doing a BSD led to an oiling issue? i ask this because i heard it from a fellow speed guy. that, and legitimately almost no one can wrap their head around wtf happened here
