Ive always just had the TWM short shifter in my MS6 and never had an issue. Maybe Im just used to it after driving for 8 years. Ive never tried any of these plates but have tried different weights and never noticed a difference.

What I haven't liked about the feel of short shift plates is 2,4,6. To me, it feels like when pulling back on the shifter the gear bottoms out much sooner than 1,3,5. Always made me paranoid of pulling passed the gear and bending a shift fork. I do however love my Cobb STS.

Got some free tester ssp's to distribute. Just need to do the clean up drilling & black oxide coating.

My desk has a lot going on right now.

So my replacement plate just needs a little tlc before being shipped? Joking, kinda. My current vendor plate needs a replacement. I was thinking DM, but this one is interesting.

Black oxide? Do you have access to a coating that wont rust? Hell even just paint. Black oxide will turn rusty in just humidity, let alone getting anything a road would put on it. Just a thought. If its just for protoypes it will last a while I guess.

It's a 3 part process. Black oxide dip then a dip in a clear laquer sealer and follow that up with a spray of clear coat.

Very durable and very corrosion resistant.

Ah, I use black oxide every day at my work, but we typically don't lacquer over it, so if its left out side it will rust (well rust more). In a machine environment its usually fine.

So never mind then, carry on.

Let me know if you want some Canadian testing

I used to have the JBR but couldn't stand how stiff it made the shifts. I'm on cobb knob and light weight right now + solid shifter bushings.

You come up with some cool stuff: engine cover, SSP, intake manifold... They are all awesome ideas. You should become a vendor so i can buy stuff.

I do most of the design work as a hobby. I love making my own parts. I get bored if I can't tinker with things.

I am not really in it to make $ but if there is demand and I can get things moving I may step up.

Well at least make a few extra proto types of the shift hammer so I can get my hands on one. I have a NYPPD shift plate (same as torque/SURE) and i am not thrilled with it.

I have 4 testers lined up who will be getting these prototypes for no charge. So I would expect to start getting some objective / un-biased feedback in the next couple weeks.

If those guys like them then it may go to production.

I'm going to be super happy if this makes 3rd great shifts happen without me grinding gears. I've got solid shifter bushings, the dm trilogy, i went with Lucas full synthetic trans fluid, and a jbr shift plate, it is better, but better isn't perfect. I'm hoping this will make it perfect.

I will say that prior to installing my latest design, to cleanly hit 3rd gear at wot I had to think about it way too much. I would pretty much just granny shift to 3rd just because I knew if I did anything too aggressive I would miss hitting 3rd.

I have not missed 3rd one time with the new setup and I finally trust myself / my car to hit 3rd every time.

Might be a gen 1 thing here too?

I'd be curious to see how well this SSP works for that.

I'm running the DM threesome + DM SSP and I can FFS (with stock settings) 2-3 at redline and not miss the gear at all. No joke, ask @JgamB; or @chaser27;.

I'm pretty sure the final variable you need to tweak is the sliding collar on the shifter linkage in the boot. Get it to where the car feels perfect while sitting still slamming through the gears and lock it back down.

I have the same issue in my gen 2. If I am driving normal 3rd is fine but as soon as I go to the drag strip or get a bit crazy I often find myself grinding the fuck out of it. It's the only gear I have issues with. If I take my time with it it's usually o.k but really pisses me off sometimes.

I honestly haven't noticed a different since putting the XT-M5 in. Well see how this thing plays with 3rd gear with an actual short throw shifter as well.

Hit me up if you need more testers.

I've been reluctant to get a shift plate because it seems there are always more cons than pros from what everyone says about them. Seems like they all are designed around making leverage work against you instead of for you. Curious to see if those big ass weights help it just fall right into gear.

I'm also exhausted from moving a long block by my self yesterday, only sleeping an hour last night and just getting home from work. I also want to get good pictures and need daylight to do that.

Just got this from the mail box tonight. Woot. I know it is a quick install, but i just moved into a new house and I'm still unpacking tools and crap. I will get this installed with pics this weekend while I'm tracking down my end link clunk. I will be writing up a comparison with my JBR. That's the only thing that will change.
