Default 93 Tune, LTFT's Getting Worse

@Justin@Freektune; @Rob@Freektune; If I understand how the e-mail works now, I probably just bumped myself back down the list when I sent some 93 Freektune MAF logs.

I'm probably about to finish the ethanol tune, but I run the 93 tune most of the time. My LTFT's have been getting progressively worse and just want to know if I should be concerned because they were at +17.00 within an rpm range I spend most of my time in cruising on the highway so I can't really avoid it.

My notes in the email said that I probably had about 2 gallons of ethanol in my tank when I switched back to my 93 map, but up until now my trims have been around +15. So basically they've been getting progressively worse over the past few months.

Just not sure if it's a big deal or not, I was reading +,-25 will throw a CEL. I'd fix it myself but dem damn locked maps.

If it's not an issue I have no problem waiting 'til my e-mail makes it back to the top of the list, thanks guys.

Were your LTFTs on point before? What have you changed? Cleaned your MAF? Sounds like a pretty decent vacuum leak... Or you fixed a boost leak after your tune.

I'd say it would be nice if they could unlock specific tables like your MAF cal for issues like this, but that table seems to touch EVERYTHING in the form of Load calculations...

After doing some reading I did like you mentioned, tightened everything up. Nothing seemed loose, but for shits I loosened and shifted a few clamps around and retightened.

Went for a drive, and crazy high +'s were gone, I was back down to something more reasonable. +4, +8. I didn't log, but just watched as I did a 2nd gear slow to redline.

So weird, since my trims were fine right before I flashed back to 93...maybe the heat? It's just recently been skirting the 100's here. Maybe things have just loosened up.

It's making me wonder about my last batch of Ethanol logs since I switch between the 93 and E40 maps pretty frequently but I definitely noticed my 93 map had worse trims. Car seems to be holding boost fine (20psi).

My eth trims are fine, but anytime I switch to 93 my trims are out of whack again.

When we finalized the 93 tune a few months ago I noticed it was jumping to a high number and its has gotten worse as weather has gotten hotter but I didn't pay it much mind until recently. We only did 1 MAF cal on the 93 tune, and 2 on the ethanol tune so maybe we didn't get it dialed in?

They just weren't as bad then so I didn't try to address it.

MAF has been cleaned very recently, and I have a new filter on. I could double check my clamps, but I would suspect my ethanol trims would be bad too if that were the case?

I'm going to bump this and say I'm seeing a pattern of whacky high + FT's after going from my ethanol tune to my 93 map. I'm planning on doing a boost leak test this weekend but after switching a few times between maps, the first 30 miles or so switching back to 93 from E, I get +15 to+17 at light throttle and -0.16 to -13 at idle.

BUT, then it settles. My trims look fine now. I'm really confused.

I'm talking to Justin now about some logs but I'm going to try and rule out hardware on my part first. Check leakage, oil change, new spark plug in cylinder 3 (low compression) and clean the MAF.

Anyone else get odd trims switching between maps?

Yes, I have had this happen too, I didn't notice the trend until after reading your post though. I have suspected I had a leak somewhere because my trims on e were only a little off but the trims after switching back to 93 were way off, double digit LTFTs and 10.x WOT AFRs, and fuel consumption almost on the same level as on 25% E. But after a few hundred miles the car has settled back into just slightly off and fuel economy came back up a bit.

So I could be stressing over nothing? I swap between the two maps pretty frequently, and thought trims would immediately be changed along with the flash.

I just want to rule out any issues before I call it wraps on the ethanol tune.

If you have an significant amount of E left in the tank it will mess with it too.

When you are going back to 93, there is going to be ethanol left in your tank. You need to put a full tank or two through it before the trims will be perfect.

Also when was the last time your secondary o2 was replaced. Thats what is currently holding me up right now and I know everytime my trims go to shit that is usually the culprit.

I just replaced the O2 about 2 months ago when I installed my DP. Again, sounds like I just wasn't giving my car enough time to adjust to each map with how frequently I was bouncing between them.

I fill my car up about 3 times a week so about twice on 93, and once with 50/50 usually right before the weekend.

Hopefully this will be helpful for anyone else that flashes frequently between two fuels as often as I do. I was really sure I had a boost/vac leak.

I feel like a car hypochondriac. I just assume the worst.

With the miles I put on this car and the tuning it just wouldn't have surprised me if I overlooked something. Thanks for the input guys.
