Default PTE 5858 dyno

Some have seen this either on the egde page, or FB, but here is a nice little dyno with a PTE 5858, Cpe manifold, precision 46mm EWG, kozmic DP, and screamer pipe. All purchased through edge as their precision kit This bad boy Made 510hp at 29psi. Was just about out of fuel, but added 2 more psi, to see if it had anything left in the tank, and it made 530. With more fuel this turbo will easily make 550+.

Waiting for my DP and screamer pipe from Edge, I also bought the kit. I am told Kozmic don't have the parts in stock.

I've been without my car since July now when my TotalMPShit manifold cracked.

I've gone for the 5862, and added a JMF manifold to my order to run methanol port injection.

I think some of the stuff they make per order. Not sure though. But my Screamer pipe did come in a different order than everything else.

this is awesome freek! thanks for sharing! if i ever get around to a build I'm leaning toward the 5858.

Since you are posting.... log/dyno comparison of the 5858 and 6266 gen2 that is supposedly amazing?

If the spool is as good as claimed on the gen2 6266 it may be the better all around option

I keep seeing the numbers this turbo is capable of, and keep wondering why this was recommended over the 5558 for stock block (looking for 400whp mark). seems like a lot of turbo. about to pull the trigger, but want to make sure I'm getting the best turbo for my goals (occasional drag strip/sushi rolls, no auto x).

I'd go with a PTE over a BNR for the money any day. More headroom.

The turbo is very comparable to a gtx3076, which is why when my 3076 got killed (different story in itself) I went with this turbo. Spools damn near the same as a gtx3076 too. So it is still a very worthy turbo for stock block. 22psi and conservative ignition timing, will get you in the neighborhood of 400hp.

That torque plateau is pure drivability, it is one of the things I miss the most from my VR6 Golf, underpowered as it was I had full torque, full time, flat line is good

It sits between the axle and the subframe. And slightly higher than the subframe. That pipe is legit, fits perfect.

If the dump tube is close to the ground video of it running at night would be awesome.

@Justin@Freektune; how do you feel about this setup and these numbers on stock block? or atleast keeping the torque right around 400 and say 460-480whp. Lol....just wondering.

Jake in the post above yours is stock block and has been running at the hp level for quite a long time, and I know @cld12pk2go; has also been running north of 450hp for quite a while. As long as you have reliable fueling, whether a quality meth kit or 6th port, you should be ok. But it is certainly in the danger zone lol. Keeping tq below 400 is the key though.

Of course the plural of anecdote isn't data, but I have been rolling at ~470whp for 2 years at this point on the stock block (99k and counting).

My rules:

1.) Massive overkill on octane/evaporative cooling: Typically 15% of fueling from meth and about E30-E40 in the tank = zero chance of detonation

2.) Don't beat on it when ECT is < 160*F or >200*F to keep ringlands happy

3.) Keep peak torque at 400wtq or less. I have run as high as ~470wtq, but most of my high power has been 420wtq or less. For the last year or so it has been 380-400wtq.

4.) Don't do back to back pulls without adequate cool down time

5.) YMMV

2.) Don't beat on it when ECT is < 160*F or >200*F to keep ringlands happy

3.) Keep peak torque at 400wtg or less. I have run as high as ~470wtq, but most of my high power has been 420wtq or less. For the last year or so it has been 380-400wtq.

4.) Don't do back to back pulls without adequate cool down time

5.) YMMV
6.) Run a large-frame turbo that pushes torque onset way way way up in the RPMs.

At least that's what I'm doing on top of all your other rules. You and @Etipp98; are my inspiration to try and push some good numbers on stock block with the 6466.

Have you added fuel for that nice sweeping power band? I seem to remember you where close to tapped out at around 510-530 Hp on a D14 nozzle. The top end charge has to feel damn good!!!

I got a new meth pump and running a cooling mist pump now (same part number as the DO pump I had before) then I run a CM14 nozzle and DO7 nozzle. On those 580 runs my DI IDC is in the mid 80's

If you didn't stick your dick in the end of the 3076 and destroy it, would have been interesting to see how it performed with the car more dialed in with suspension etc down the quarter mile.

I'm glad this bit on information with power and the stock block has been discussed a little. It gives me much more peace of mind for when I want to upgrade. While the GTX3076 is much more price friendly, the Precision looks like it def works better. Right now, I'm having traction issues with the BNR and I'm not sure if a turbo with a different powerband would be a better alternative compared to my quick spool or if I can get it to hook, going down to a 245/50/16 NT555R to see if I can get 3rd to not spin.
