DO NOT GET AN ENGINE BUILT BY FJ PERFORMANCE UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING MONEY AWAY

Pulled the engine in my 6 to prep for a 400+whp build powered by a BNR S3, E85, and meth. Here are some pics. Pics of new engine on Friday when it comes back.

I was just thinking that, that turn around for a built engine is nuts! Or do you just keep his core?

I got lucky and @Matt@FJPerformance; had a spare long block sitting around.

They do claim a 3-5 day turnaround once they receive the engine. Parts for my build were ordered as soon as I paid FJ so they would have the parts ready when the engine showed up.

AwAfrican 07-08-2015 08:54 PM

Awesome! Good luck with the build

On our basic build(700hp rated). We always try to have 1-2 short blocks assembled so once we we have a good core we can turn out a motor quick to our customers. The only builds that tend to take time are things more complex. We have 2 builds going on right now that ill do threads on in the upcoming weeks!

Possibly. I'm going to need a good bit of driving to get break-in miles in before Midwest.

Love it Shane!!! Cant wait to see where you max the beaner out at. I intend on doing the same. Maybe with a 5858 after the beaner feels slow.

We installed @Jonathanhair07;'s FJ-built motor and fucking racecar. Its intense. Gave me the sweats.

tastysi2004 07-10-2015 01:46 AM

Sad to say, but this engine was not what I ordered. Details forthcoming, pending either resolution or lawsuit.

What? Two years later? What happened?

TL;DR: first engine they gave me the wrong pistons (along with a myriad of other issues), fixed it on their dime (including shipping back to them and me), but sent me a different engine with a hole in a coolant passage, ARP2000s instead of freek studs, bearings that were gouged as all get out, studs (head and main) undertorqued, valve buckets (almost) all out of spec, decking done by hand, probably more that I'm forgetting.

I'll have more details posted eventually, just trying to figure out the best path forward for myself. Chris @ Speed Solutions is hooking me up though with a right and proper build.

Jesus. Maybe they sent out the wrong one? Keep us updated.

Looks like they’re banned already so must have done something in the past or screwed a handful of MSF’ers.

shaneski 10-27-2017 08:11 PM

Was reading on FB a few guys received junk engines, they sub contract and don't do the builds in house. USA version of Total MPS

Funny you should mention that..... Apparently if only one engine is in the shop after 6 months, it has to be mine. Never mind that I installed a time-sert kit in my oil feed hole that isn't on the engine they sent me back. Nope, it MUST be my engine.

So you think they sent the wrong one or do you think they took that off?

Wrong one. There's no way to take off a timesert insert. Well, you could, but you can't fix it and make it look OEM (for any reasonable $$$).

Well hopefully they make it right and it was a simple fuck up. Good luck man.

For those that want to see the email I sent and FJ's response, the BBB conveniently has a public version of them for all to see. I may post up my response to FJ's email later, but for now I'm keeping that under wraps for when I take them to court.

I am unfortunate enough to have been one of the people mentioned above that also got a shit box fj motor. Stay away. Terrible people and horrid customer service.

Djohns 01-04-2018 02:28 PM

Definitely interesting responses on the BBB page. I’ll have to sit down later and reread those when I get time. I read them when I was taking a break from walking around a museum so I didn’t read as closely as I should have. Interested to see how this plays out. Do you have documentation of any kind like photos or anything to show that you had a timesert installed?

sharksinspace 01-05-2018 08:10 AM

lmao at their response to the complaint. they sound like children.

Unfortunately, I shipped the block with photos of every side but the back side =/ That said, I have people that were present that can testify that I had a Timesert in the block I sent them. I've got enough proof to win this, it's just a matter of determining the best way about it. But say hello to my group legal policy in 2018 which will help me figure that all out.

How is this shit bag still on the front page?:spank:
